I'm getting really sick of people whining about the glacier, saying it sucks! What more do you want??? Atleast you get to ski! The park is better than no park at all! Thanks to all the whiners who complained to the mountain this year, they're considering getting rid of the public park all together next year! Just something to think about if you're going to be a fuckin baby about what we are allowed to do under the current circumstances! Until you know everything there is to know about liability insurance, resort operations, terrain park design, grooming capabilities, events management, and financial management, I suggest you just be happy with what you've got, or go out and build the perfect park yourself! I remember when skiing was boosting off rollers and windrows around lift towers! We'd spend hours hand shovelling a shitty booter that was hard enough to straight air, let alone throw down off of! Nowadays, people don't even have to touch a shovel, and yet they bitch all day because they don't have the skill to make do with a jump that's less than perfect! Are you a skier or a princess? You make the call!

I think they did pretty well with the park this year considering the circumstances. It is a lot better than last year. And Yes everyone is a bunch of whiners.

i think it is stupid to whistlers park now is probably better than the park i ski during the winter, i would be so happy to be able to ski at summer, i mean the people skiing in the summer are a privilige few and then to whine about it when the rest of us cant even ski eriod is stupid,

welp, I've certainly been no slouch on the whining this year. but it's only because I have been in whistler every summer for the past 6 years, and for some reason this has been one of the smallest parks in that 6 years. not just the public park, but even all the camp jumps seemed smaller than normal, except for high norths which was the same. but I certainly didn't vent my frustration with the park anywhere except on ths forum. so there

that sux to hear that the park is fucked up this year but skiing on a screwed up park is better than not being able to ski at all, and i bet the public park up there is better than the one i'm stuck with in the winter.

Yo, Andy... Yes it does bother me that much. You know why? Because I try to make that park as good as I can, and there are so many limitations to what we can do these days, and I am the one they always complain to! To judge someone who is 'whining about whiners' is contradictory in itself. I'm trying to help people see the positive side of what we DO have! Furthermore, it bothers me because the more people complain, the more it is considered to get rid of the park all together! I don't know about you, but I'd like to keep skiing in the summer time, even if the park isn't the best! I agree that the park could be a lot better, but this takes time. There are so many issues that are restricting terrain parks right now, making them smaller and more controlled. I am working on a way to reverse this trend, but it will take time to see where this all goes. The point is, we need to be helpful to those trying to help the sport, rather than hurtful. People say that FIS sucks, but that's exactly where we're headed if we aren't careful! Peace, N8.

Yeah, WERD to Natedawg. It pisses me off how ppl can call the glacier a bad place. I live in Indiana and we get to ski about three months the whole year. And through that time there is 1 jump, that sucks. You guiys have a really decent park. and shit, it is summer time, u r lucky just to be skiing. i would kill to ski there for a whole summer. I sound kinda whining here but shit, u guys need to deal with what u got.

Since the park pass system isn't in place, we are supposed to only have blue features. This year, we were also limited by a rule of no table tops in the blue park. That's why you'll only find 'hips' and 'spines' on the glacier. We've taken it to the limit of what we are allowed to do. That's all I can say about it here.

over the past 4 weeks or so i've noticed all of the 'hips' in the public park become smaller and smaller. This past week the biggest hit in the park was a 15 foot hip jump that was incredibly pathetic. Yes skiing is skiing but its never been this bad before, and most of us are used to a bigger and better park. I'm not whining and i dont think anyone else is either but we are just wondering what is going on? intrawest cant get there shit together and figure out insurance and liabilities? sounds like BS to me.

well dropping in size over the summer does make sense. it melts so crazy fast. but the initial size seemed smaller than usual.

Jon's right... They do melt about 6 inches every day. And the reason they're smaller is because they are supposed to be within the perameters of a BLUE feature... We made that jump a lot bigger lastnight by the way...

Damn, u are even lucky getting to ski on November. Last year we didn't open til December 27. And we ddin't have a jump until like january sumtime, and it still sucked.

Nate: I totally respect your work over the entire season with the parks but you can't tell me that people don't have legitimate reasons to complain. I understand that you are in an incredibly tough spot with insurance specs and all but it just seems that maintanence-wise the conditions are not up to par. I have been up on the glacier a fair bit and I think that if you're only going to have one or two hips they should be in damn good condition. Also, the pipe has sucked the entire time I have been up there. It took almost a month to get the main pipe semi-skiable and I haven't been up there when it's been half decent. Now I could have missed some good days because of work or something but it just seems that Whistler/Blackcomb didn't deliver very well this summer. Anyways that's just my take on it.

We get way too busy with salt distribution and accident transports to keep someone in the park at all times. We also need more groomers so everything gets groomed every night. Right now, the camps have all the priority, and the public shit is neglected. Grooming also started like the day before the glacier opened, when it should've started at least a week or two before! That's why the pipe was shit for the first couple of weeks. The bottom line is, we need more budget...

Now it sounds like I'm 'whining' but I'm merely stating the facts... The point of this thread wasn't to avoid the truth. It was to confront people who say things like, 'I'd rather ski on piles of cow shit' or 'Why does Intrawest even bother?' Comments like that are what make my higher ups think about abandoning the park altogether, and that would REALLY SUCK BALLS! Rather than whining and complaining, I think we should ask questions and give constructive criticism once we know all the facts. Fair enough? Maybe I'll just add another sentance just to make this reply even longer in case you aren't all asleep yet. Wow, I really do write too much!
