How to do swaps without hangin' up and bustin' ass. More times than not, when i do swaps my skis hang up and they end up being sloppy. How to do cleaner swaps NSers?...

They took me for ever the biggest things for me are having confidence in yourself( don't slightly commit just do it) and make sure to scissor hard and pop nice. Just keep working at them and you'll get em dude. Do you have any videos?

Thanks man i think it might be a commitment thing as well. I have just some random footage on my SD card from last year. I just got a gopro this season so i can take some more footage instead of having to worry about my camera while on the mountain.

On front swaps, I use to just do a weird shifty thing and slide off. I figured out that you have to actually spin you entire body. I'll run through the motion of a kfed in my head like.

"OK I'm on the rail, now scissor, pop, swap my entire body, and land in a comfortable left foot slide. Now just do a back 2"

This^ i used to get my one ski caught and it was super frustrating. popping harder and cleaner helped tons

key: Lock on .. POP , rotate and look at the end of rail. scissor the piss out of it, 2 out and youre a now boss.

cool! ill work on focusing on my body and not so much on my skis and see if that works.

little bit of both, but before is way more important. If you scissor after it will help you get front and back 2s after the swap. really get your whole body around, including hips and shoulders. If you do like a shifty swap that won't cut it. Get some video and make sure your shoulders and hips are completely parallel to the rail after the swap. Video is the best learning tool, and summer setups are about the best as well. The combo of the two = rail god 420. Simple math equation

Summer Setup + video = rail god 42069

Personally I learned on a backyard setup, it helps to learn to slide the rail the other way... try surface swaps first.

alright so this is how i learned and how i taught a bunch of my friends
first you should be able to cleanly front 270 and know how to use your edges. when are on the rail and preparing for the swap keep your knees bent and you want to drop your front foots heel to begin using your edges and push away from you and into the rail. you can feel the edge dig in and at this point you want to pop. pop with your legs not with your upper body and turn your entire body the 180 degrees, dont just turn your lower body. Make sure to turn your shoulders and head with the swap, and be prepared to land unnatural and be balanced.

As it's been said, a summer setup or even a backyard rail in the winter, just a place where you can hit a rail a shit ton of time in a row. And start with a small pvc so there's no consequence when you fall. And IMO a pvc pipe will always be fun

Just throwin this in there, for front swap, if you try to keep your shoulders forward too. For back, do the opposite, continue the shoulders the other way. There's definitely some muscle memory that has to get developed so just keep workin and you'll succeed. Also, cheater method is to just learn on a flat-down rail, if you're already comfy sliding rails, this way you don't have to pop as hard.

I can only do front swaps. But when I do them I just try to lift my front foot off of the rail while I'm turning so I can't hang up. They look dope if you do them this way. My homies are always hyped
