I'm off to japan in january for my first big freeride trip. I'm normally more of a park rat, but I'm pretty excited to hit the bottomless powder there.
I decided to get the Atomic Bent Chetler for that trip, as this ski suits my riding style the most.
I think you can never skip a bit of hiking when you want to hit the best lines. I came across the idea that a touring binding could be smart, but I don't like the extra weight and I prefer to be close to the ski.
What would you guys recommend me? What's your powder set-up?
36ChambersOfWuIf you want a framed binding, go for for guardians or dukes.
rozboonDon't bother with a touring binding.
There is endless pow in range of a short hike. Shit there's endless pow inbounds if you know where to look.
If you don't know what you're doing touring (and if you're asking this question you probably don't) then going out wide in Japan is a good way to end up dead under 15ft of avvy debris.
If you're not heading out there with a crew to go skin up random peaks, get an alpine binding.
