Mt. Bachelor Makes Changes Due To Lawsuits

Here is the latest from Mt. Bachelor. Lets hope we will still have terrain parks with jumps!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The video didn't say anything about changing the parks but rather the pass disclaimer/agreement - or at least that's what it appeared to be. We adjust ours between every 2-3 years or so as we see fit. You'll keep your park. If anything I would say they would implement some type of park pass before they ever got rid of stuff!

Yea, maybe it's time for park passes for entry so one understands the "rules' and the risk are their own. This sort of thing has been talked about before.

Did you watch the video...? Was barely anything to do with the current park lawsuit.

Regardless of the current lawsuit's outcome, I would guess Bachelor just becomes like many other mountains that require a "park pass" to go in the terrain park. Makes sense for almost everyone involved, the mountain covers their ass and park skiers don't have to deal with the jerry's that roll though and stop in the landings or hit jumps they shouldn't be hitting.

I agree. But the enforcement of that would add to cost and Powder Corp. is very tight with spending at Bachelor!

I'd imagine they'll work out whether or not the cost of doing so would be higher than that of future lawsuits. Don't jump to conclusions

Seems like there are way more dangerous places on Mt Bachelor than the terrain parks. I always knew that people could sue regardless of any release agreement. I'm sure Bachelor knew this too. It doesn't mean that every lawsuit will be heard or that Bachelor will lose any suite in particular. I just hope common sense will prevail and people won't freak out and start restricting access or restricting features.

Your right about that! Cost a lot more when they have to pay! You Smart!

Bachelor is still good, just since other private local corp. sold to Powder it hasn't been the same.

I don't think anyplace in Oregon requires a separate 'park pass' . Mother nature actually makes more dangerous terrain features within the ski area so IMO the whole idea of a 'park pass' makes no sense.

Agreed, tree wells and gas vents could definitely make for sketchy conditions sometimes. It doesn't, but covers the liability of resorts a bit more.

I believe I was told that park passes actually increase liability since you are kind of confirming that the person is qualified to be in the park. I could be completely wrong though.

My understanding is that it's about teaching the rules and proper etiquette.

And then to teach you that you are responsible for you own actions, injuries or death.

That's a good one! ^

Bachelor has fumaroles on the back side and front not as many. The ones on the back where there in no grooming can sallow people alive and leave them several feet below the snow! It's scary! One need to be on there toes and NEVER go backside alone is recommended and rule as the entire backside is un-patrolled as well!
