Would you live forever?

Imagine in the future we can live forever, would you take that opportunity or not? If not, what would your ideal lifespan be?

Personally i would live forever, presuming I would be maintained at a similar physical wellbeing as I am now. There are just far too many things to discover in one lifetime, even if i were to get bored by skiing, which would take hundreds of years.

I ask this because I reckon in our lifetimes we will see people live to unprecedented ages as life is extended as our understanding of science and medicine exponentially grows. Which kind of reevaluate this kind of question.

Nope. To watch all of the people around you die wouldn't be worth living forever.

Unless of course I could be like the guy from The Watchmen and travel to other galaxies, then I'd probably do that after all of my friends and family die, explore the universe.

I still think Id say no. Arent you at least a little curious about death? Something that happens to everyone, that is debated by everyone on what happens after you pass, and nobody truly knows the answer till it happens. By then, you cant tell anyone either.

I hope that when my time comes I will have lived my life as best I could, done all the things I wanted to do, and welcome death with open arms and a curious mind.

In the event that it is complete nothingness, you'll be none the wiser. But in the off chance its something incredible we cant even fathom, I'll take that chance.

I would stay alive forever if I had the option, but only if I could stay in a decent physical shape, and never grow old like a brittle frail old man. If there wasn't any chance of my brain deteriorating or anything physically changing. It would be neat to see what happens. I embrace the future with open arms, even though it some times seems like it is going to shit.



Another thing I'd like to add is I would really only enjoy it if it wasn't just me with the ability to live forever.

i always thought it'd be awesome if you could go inside a time chamber where every day that passed by inside the chamber, only a minute passed by in the world.

so you go inside and do whatever the fuck you want. play video games for an entire fucking day. go chill with your friends. so whatever entertainment bullshit your heart desired. come back out of it? only a minute of your day has been wasted.


think of how efficient we would be as human beings if we could actually get all of our past-time play and leisure out of the way in a minutes time, and then continue on with the rest of our day.

You'd get to see the human race (hopefully) turn into a stage 2 and then eventually a stage 3 civilization. Maybe you'd get to visit other planets, solar systems, galaxies, and universes. You could explore every corner of the earth, meet all sorts of new, interesting people. Visit places you'd never have the chance to in a normal lifetime. Maybe even get to meet other, intelligent races of extraterrestrial beings. There's is a reason why they say life is short, because it is. You life is not even a millisecond on the clock that is our universe, wouldn't you want to experience at least a minute or two if not longer?

Depends.

If it were a Dorian Gray scenario, i'd probably make it to 80.

If it were a scenario where I was able to stay 25 forever and not have a rotting painting of myself telling me how terrible I am... I'd probably stick around for 200 years.

If I just continued to age slowly... I would probably opt for a normal lifespan but may even make it through that. I may have romanticized Hunter S. Thompson a bit too much.

If I could explore places like space and not have to worry about money... I'd live as long as I could.

If I was Hancock (will smith movie) I would not be a pussy and live forever for sure. Loving one person for a single lifetime < fucking bitches getting money for all the generations to come.

If I had to get old slowly, I would like to age the same as everyone else that I care for. Being an old man in a completely different generation would be whack. Watching your grandson die of old age would be a trip.

Only if i had the choice when i could die... I would want to stay at this state or perhaps in my early twenties for as long as possible. But I do not look forward to living past the point of being incapable of walking and caring for myself. But it would be awful to see everything come and go and everyone else die. I would want to die after I have accomplished everything I want and traveled around the world. Once I have achieved my "nirvana" you can say. I want to be entirely satisfied with my life

Completely agree. Yes it would be absolutely terrible to watch everyone around you grow old and die but everything that you would get to experience with your extra time would be so worth it.

Also, the idea of eternal oblivion is terrifying to me. I would rather have eternal life than be nothing.

I dunno man, that's a pretty heavy question and topic in general.

Could you imagine seeing everyone you know/loved dying one by one and leaving this world, while your just kinda linger on?

I'm also super interested in what exists after this life, and the world is gonna be a giant shithole within the next 20 years or so...So no, give me death for sure.

It could also be a prison. Imagine the world blowing up in the future cause of some scary asteroid or nukes or some shit. Youd be stuck floating in space forever, or forced to stay on an empty planet that once had everything you ever loved on it, gone; depending on the scenario.

Nice, two great choices. Regular jail would be better than prison, but if I had to choose prison or floating in space til I croaked...definitely prison. There is "life" (definition depending) in there, you wouldn't find life by the time life found you without gravity.

How about

a)African Desert til you dehydrated to death

b)Trapped inside I giant television in which you couldn't escape and people watched you croak

c)Bottom of the marina trench in a tank and you get lodged in between two rocks.
