marijuana and skiing?

Ok I have read alot of post recently and people (on these forums at least) seem to think that skiing and smoking go together. Does anyone else get this feeling?

I actually know people who board, and get high while on the mountain and then have the nerve to go back out and continue boarding.

Anyway what are your thoughts?

My first five days this season I toked up on the lift... let me just tell you. Never in my entire life have I had such a feeling of happy giddyness. All I did the rest of the day was straight line the first half of the hill then carve enourmous gs turns, my shouler almost to the ground. You just flow when you ski stoned.

yeah i drive high all the time and its not too tough to do, im a pretty sick driver all around so maybe that has something to do with it, i usually dont ski blazed but i do sometimes and its fun as hell, it just chills me out and i want to try all mellow shit and i feel all styled out, but i really dont need weed to feel slow and stylie, like this fri at okemo we blazed and i just boosted huge in the pipe all day

I read the first 2 pages of this thread and I laughed out loud to myself. Not the 'lol' you always IM to somebody, when you actually didn't laugh. I really did laugh. It seems like this became more of a competition thread - 'I ski better when I've smoked an eight', 'ya well I smoked a quarter of dro and then went racecar driving.'

If you can handle yourself, I'd say it's not as bad. But by smoking and skiing, you are adding another danger that other people do not plan on. As far as I'm concerned though, it will either make you better or worse, and there are already bad skiers on the hill. So let the tokers blaze and if they are bad, avoid them.

I have never personally smoked while skiing, but I do on a somewhat regular basis off the slopes so I think I could handle myself a little better than somebody who has never smoked before. Overall, it's each person's personal choice.

yes indeed. I dont smoke alot but when i smoke and ski i ski really good and i have so much more fun. But my parents use skiing as a way to get me to not smoke so its beat.

I cant belive how many of you are straight pot heads. I have smoked pot, and still do every few months, never hit the hill high or did anything else for that matter, it just makes me lazy and want to sit on my ass. I see people stoned at the hill everyday making complete asses out of themselves.. just makes me realize how stupid people are. Not saying that getting a little buzz is bad, but dont get stoned, you just look like an ass.

smoking pot is undeniably a part of skiing culture. doesn't mean everyone does or should. it's a choice and whatever you choose is cool but saying 'keep it off the mountain or out of the park' is laughable. sometimes this place is pretty silly.

It's kind of sad to depend on pot to make your skiing better though. It seems to me that you get a natural high off skiing so you shouldn't need drugs.

cha smoking slows down your motor neurones in exactly the same way as drinking does, with a more pronounced effect. In that respect, its actualy more dangerous to ski high than drunk, and you are incredibly ignorant if you think its fine to drive high.

marijuana and skiing are the best combination in the whole fucking world. the first time i got high was at killington last year, which was also the first season i got into freeskiing. marijuana/skiing/music together is the best fucking thing to ever happen..you are not out of control so you people better shut up if you dont know what your talking about. Marijuana makes you so much more focused and alert when you ski, and i definitley will try it again. and for the record, last year at sunday river siver sessions skogen toked up in the woods with a group of like 10 skiiers including me.

I did it this season a few times, I loved it. Made jumping feel sweet, but made me totally lazy on rails. Takes away fear and keep you focused on what you want to do.

Its just a part of the "ski culture" you always read and hear about. It's your own choice though.

Just ski how you like to ski. If blazin and skiing is your thing, thats what you should do. If you are completely against it, no one is making you do it. That is the beauty of our sport, it leaves us with the ultimate freedom to do exactly as we wish. Nothing more than that needs to be said.

Anyways....i don't smoke....but its happened...i don't support the use of any drugs ( including coffee) cept for alcohol, alcohol is my friend......curisously i ski and drink all the time, but not smashed....just happy buzzed, makes it all good.

i love to blaze.... id be blazed right now if i had anything left. But I dont really like to ski high it just doesnt feel right. Ive only tried it 2 times but i felt like i was gona hurt myself on rails and i got lazy and just wanted to chill and sit down. So if im gona smoke on the hill, its gona be on my last run after the lifts stopped and they kick me out of the park.

skiing is enough thc in it alone. But it does sound really fun in powder thats different.

Yeah I think , smoking and skiing go together, but not in a good way. Myself and other patrolers pull a lot of people off in sleds for that shit or if they' re not hurt we tell them to get the hell out! All you stoners/skiers your are giving a bad name to the freeskiing community. I don't think A lot of us non-stoners who ski want to be known for that. So do it on your own fuckin time.

i dont know if u could say skiing and green go together. i guess a fair amount of FREESKIERS smoke weed, and freeskiing is only 1 branch of skiing, so i guess more freeskiers thatn smoke than in other aspects of sking such as racing,aerials, or oguls. but smoking for me would not make me a dangerous skier. after i first started smoking last summer i would gte very goofy and deffinitely not be safe to ski in that state of mind, but as i smoked more your tolerance goes up and it didnt fuck ME up badly. I say me becase it affects everybody differently, and for me it messed me up pretty good for a while. but if i were to smoke and ski at the point that I am at right now as far as smoking, i would be perfectl;y fine, and i know i would ski better, becuase ijust get way mellowed out, a lot looser, open minded and things just tend to move much more slowly for me. its really impossible to explain how it affects me, all i can say is that i geta way different outlook on life.

haha first time i did it(on the hill) we smoked way too much and i dont even remember the ski out of the trees. Ive been told i hit a pretty sick pillow line then ski'd under a rope and over a river. It was all intentional though, and i was safe the rest of the day. Not really too dangerous if you dont smoke too much.

I dont really like to though because my memory sucks and i wont try anything in the park.

and the worst part is getting the munchies and only having expensive ass resort food to buy.
