SamtheEagleI gotta say it took me purchasing a firearm to realize how increadibly easy it is to purchase a firearm. At the very least can we have a waiting period.... I know statistically it wouldn't do much but at least it makes someone consider purchasing a firearm and not do it in the heat of the moment. I know most gun deaths aren't from a heat of the moment purchase of a gun but its better than nothing.

They had like 7 mass shootings (more than 2 people shot) in the 10 years leading up to their gun control reform and like 1 in the 10 years since. Those numbers are not perfectly accurate since I don't remember precisely. My favorite part of their gun control is as simple as forcing anyone who purchases a gun to give a reason. Simple yet I think would be a huge deterrent for a lot of people. Once again it doesn't really stop anyone from getting one but is an extra step where some of the bad people who are legally buying firearms might have been stopped.

Semi automatic rifles and Handguns will need a license to own - similar to concealed carry. Any unlicensed firearm will be treated like if they found you with some illegal drugs. Any illegal firearm will be treated like you have a lot of illegal drugs. Expanded magazines and other shit that increases the lethal nature of a weapon will require weapons safety certifications and shit.

...Treat it like cars. Yeah, getting your basic license to drive a car is easy, but if you're driving a truck or something more serious (and dangerous) you need additional examinations, and it takes longer to get your certs. If you're going to use such weapons for protection, it should be documented.

The fact of the matter is, guns cause death. They cause death in a way where the murderer can leave little trace, and kill from a distance (can't do that with Knives or Hammers or whatever), they cause a shitload of accidents, and if there's a way to avoid this by making it more difficult to obtain the ones that are designed without practical purposes involved, then it could potentially stem the ease of a killer from getting their hands on one.


If you really want me to play with the fallacy, however... You can't snipe someone with a knife. You can snipe someone with a scope mounted on an AR15, though. I'd argue that a guy with a semi automatic and a scope mounted and a shitload of bullets has the ability to cause way more harm than a guy with a knife.

Have you seen what america is comprised of? People suck.

There are a ton of ways to make the situation better. Severley limit the amount of ammo you can buy per year. Like literally 6 bullets/shells per year. Oh you go hunting more than that? get more accurate. Make the ammo super expensive like $25 per bullet/shell. Want to hunt more than that? great, prove that you have gone hunting enough in the pat 5 years to warrant the amount of ammo you are buying.

You want home protection? give people bean bag guns. hitting someone at point blank range with one of those bad boys will put them the fuck down quick...but its tough to kill people with one of those.

The government should start a program that pays $2000+ for each assault weapon and handgun that gets turned in. Make it extremely profitable for the 'hood to turn in their guns. make it worth their while.

If you ever have the need to go to war with the US government, guess what? you already lost fucker! your chance to stop them, and change the course of history was 20 years prior when policies began to be enacted by the folks voted into office.

CaseyIn the state of Washington the seller of a gun in a private sale has no responsibility or liability to know who they are selling to. Felon, crazy, terrorist, doesn't matter. I don't think people should be getting in trouble for shit someone else does with a gun that they used to own, but having no rules or requirements of who and how you can sell firearms is just stupid. AT-ATAre guns more effective yes. That's not where I was going. If you are to ban guns the next reasonable thing to do is to ban knives, and then after knives are "gone", the next thing you ban is fists. That is if you are going by number of homicides committed by each.

Each law would continue to make people "safer." That is where your logic would take you. If you ban guns and it makes people safer, you would then have to ban knives because it would make people safer, and onward and onward

I'm gonna just assume you don't hunt because there is so much wrong with your first paragraph it is laughable. Yes let's make it hard for average folk to fill their freezer with cheap wild game that is both nutritious and big industry hormone and chemical free(for the most part anyway). Let's just simply use Doves as an example, since Dingo mentioned bacon wrapped dove the other day and I'm still drooling. As a pennsylvanian I can go by my migratory bird license and bag 15 dove per day if I want. That's way more than 6 shells even assuming I'm a perfect shot like you say everyone should be, I'd bet my life you can't down every single dove flying 100 feet over your head while sitting in a field.

Your second paragraph I actually agree with believe it or not. My home defense shotgun is loaded with non kill rubber buckshot right at this moment and I wouldn't hesitate one ounce to put an intruder with a weapon flat on his ass with it.

Unlike you I actually appreciate the pro gun pro hunting traditions and values I was taught by my parents and grandparents and I enjoy the adventures I have been on and the experiences I have had in the woods and field because of it.
