Bum.LifeHave any of you guys skied J or ON3P pow skis? My main touring/pow ski has been the 2013 Hoji and I'm looking to upgrade. It seems like everyone on here talks a lot about J or ON3P and im interested. Recommends?

.LincolnGlad you came to this thread! Since the j ski pow just came out not many have ridden it. Also, do you want something directional like the Hoji?

Bum.LifeThat would be ideal. What I like most about the Hoji is that its construction made up for its pretty long turn radius, so I felt really comfortable in trees.

Most of the posts and recommendations for either ON3P's or J skis are based on bullshit speculations and assumptions.

"I heard..." Yeah, I can read the specs online and get a "feel" for the skis too, but that doesn't make me educated enough to try and influence others on how they actually ride. Personal biases aside, if you have no real experiences to add, why bother? It sure doesn't make you look well informed if that's what you're after.

How many in here have actually ridden any of the skis being mentioned, let alone both brands to actually compare the two?

Stable, yet playful is the best way I can summarize ON3P's skis as a whole. By now, I've owned a large portion of their lineup in one variation or another over the years and no other words can sum it up better.

NoddardHaving been in the on3p factory I can attest to the quality the strive for. There are only a few other companies like it. J skis is not close to level of quality on3p is producing. If you want a quality pair of skis that are going to last you, go with on3p.

division.bellI have not yet seen a pair of J skis in person, but I have ridden and owned over 13 pairs of ON3P's (I can't quite recall how many pairs I've owned right now) so I cannot honestly compare the build qualities between the two brands. Different materials, production methods, design elements, and so forth will definitely produce different skis. I do know that ON3P builds skis that have far exceeded my expectations for performance and durability and for that, they have me as an exceptionally loyal customer.

What I do want to know is what makes you so certain that J skis are "not close to the level of quality on3p is producing?"

NoddardHonestly I got ahead of myself, I don't have enough experience with J skis to attest to their quality. I will however stand next to my opinion of ON3P being a supreme quality.

My real point is that this thread, and Gear Talk in general, have gone completely to shit lately with all of these "reviews" and opinions of one ski being superior to the other for whatever fucking reason comes out of OP's ass. If you (speaking generally here) haven't actually ridden the skis, it's ok to still participate in the conversation, but it's better for everyone if the reviews come from people who actually have time spent on x brand ski. We all ski a bit differently, and thankfully have different tastes and styles. What works for me, may not for you. Individuality is a damn good thing in this world. The bottom line is that reviews only work when they are honest.

Since J skis haven't really even been around that long...and it's summer, it's crazy to me to see all of this knowledge on their skis and durability compared to their competition, whatever that may be.

You'll love those skis, Rossi too, they've been making skis for literally over 100 years so you know, they know what's up! but I'd go with K2, I mean they've sold hundreds of thousands of skis so they must be the best or they wouldn't be in business anymore, I wouldn't ride anything but Volkle though, those people speak German and Germany makes awesome cars so obviously it's the best quality! Same with Head, those guys have the best racers in the world on their skis, if it's good enough for them, they're good enough for me! I'd go with Line though, they've been making sick skis for almost 20 years now and I know a ton of people that love those but if you've ever tried Atomic, you'll never go back, they're the best because they don't make snowboards 100% focus on skiing just like Armada who is obviously the best too because Henrik is my favorite rider and look at what he does on their skis, he wouldn't ride them if the skis weren't awesome . . . It's just skiing. Don't rip into a companies. Ski what makes you happy and tell others about it.

.LincolnThank you j. I Wanted to make this thread to clear up the forums and help people out, not just see who they prefer. Obviously they like ON3P, even tho there's only like 3 peeps who have ridden both.


Also j is right on the fact that there are a lot of awesome skis. We are living in a ski community where every company wants to be the best so they try to make the best. It might make our decisions harder but they are keeping us in mind. Also thanks j for helping out the freestyle portion of our community so companies like ON3P can even exist.

.LincolnI haven't gotten mine either. But I also don't see ON3P giving away free stickers.

iggyskierJust send us a SASE to the factory and we will return them with stickers. Same deal since we started. We've actually been stickerless for the past little bit, so we have maybe 50 sitting waiting to go out (so if you sent one in recently and haven't got one back, that is why), but send one in and it will get returned (sometimes slow, but we will eventually get to it).

Honestly, the vast majority of our time is spent building skis, so it is hard to find time to do much else.
