Quick Question...s

So I was just wondering if anyone has heard of Plasti-Dip. If you havent, here's a link

Anyways my main question is; has anyone either used this to paint their skis or have actually painted over their skis for a unique look because you were sick of the old graphics? I was realy wondering how this stuff would hold up in the snow but seeing as how its july, I can't really test that.

I believe this "plasti-dip" is for coating the handles of things in a rubbery material for better grip. It would probably make your skis significantly heavier and it might be tough to just coat the top sheet. However if you don't like your graphics and want some nice black looking skis go right ahead. Personally i think an all black ski would look sick.

It won't last very long. With the constant beating and flexing of your skis it'll chip and peel away pretty quickly.

People use it paint car rims and a week after my friend was driving on them they had no chips or scratches. It would probably hold up because it is thick and flexible

It's a rubberized paint. It's used for painting cars, their rims, interior crap, the list goes on. It also peels off without any hinderence to the product underneath. It's not thick and won't chip away like regular paint. I might just have to try it next year and I'll let everyone know I guess.

If you put it on thick enough you may be alright but cold weather and plasti dip don't go well together. Also your edges would chip it up just like they would on your normal top sheet, then when you try and remove the small chip you just peel off a large portion of it. It's always worth a try though because it's very east to apply and remove with no effect to the topsheet and its cheap as shit to buy.

You'd be better off painting your poles or helmet. I wouldn't use plastidip on my skis.

If you do it the right way it isn't bad. I wouldn't paint mine but if someone really wanted to do it, it could turn out pretty cool.

Plasti dip won't hold unless it has something to wrap around and hold to, and since ur just doing a flat layer on top, no chance it will hold, and if it does, abuse from skiing will scrape it up good the first day... Spray paint should work tho, just try to cover your bindings with something! :)
