Lord_Byrondamn, i thought you had to PAY to advertise on NS.
Saga.We do. Don't you worry. We just run things a little different than everyone else who just buys banner ads. Don't hate the player.
Lord_ByronTheres a reason saga is number one
Olimarsaga fell off. 2 years ago.
Saga.It got lonely at the top.

We will choose 1 winner next week.
OlimarSo lonely that you have to bump your own threads?
gavinrudySaga, you guys used to have the tightest contests. I know it's important to "get the word out" about the company (as if it isn't already), and running contests that make kids share Saga content like it's advertising, but these newer contests are stupid. #sagasummer was super cool when it was a weekly picture contest. It made you go outside and do cool stuff and get adventurous and creative. Fuck, Partners in Crime three years ago was easily one of the best contests I've ever seen, you guys got a ton of awesome submissions from kids cliff jumping to skiing in the summer. Do you guys still do the scavenger hunts, either? Those contests inspired radical activities and boosted the community. Now you're just telling kids to download a stupid app and repost pictures. Go back to the old Saga, you guys used to be great.

loganschnurThe contests aren't as fun as they were, but I still enter them, even if I have a minuscule chance of winning because it only takes like a minute and if you win some free merch, instead of paying $50+ dollars you get it for free. Sure the contests have slid like I said above, but the cost of entering (downloading an app and reposting photos once a day for a minute for 5 days) versus the chance of winning $50+ dollars in gear is enough to make me say, "What the hell. Why not?"
gavinrudyYeah, but it shouldn't be about the merch, it's what you have to do to win. Something that inspires cool adventures is a way better way to build a support base than to have someone spend even more time on their phone on an app. Where's the fun in that? People look stupid just reposting saga branded media, it's unoriginal, and it's a cheap way to get free "advertising."
cydwhitSeriously, You will never catch me reposting some stupid photo you took just to win free stuff. If you told me to go do something rad and post a picture of it and whoever does the raddest thing wins I would be interested.
It really comes down to this: Who are you trying to appeal to? the social media trend whores who don't do cool stuff but are happy to repost junk? Or the core audience that loves doing rad stuff. Whoever mentioned Tapout was right. I am not hating on the brand but I think you can grow and profit without becoming another poser brand.
Do you want us to associate Saga with the rad kids who are shredding hard and doing rad stuff? Or do you want us to associate you with social media whores?
Sometimes it's not about how many people you reach but how you reach them.

Mr.BishopI dunno.... I mean honestly when we run contests that are super involved and meaningful, there's a bunch of people that complain it isn't simple enough to enter.
Saga has been pretty involved in the community since day 1. If they wanna give away some shit for something simple / a little bit of social media hype then what is the issue? There's way more big fish to fry than Saga doing their best to give back.
Note, they also just signed a very robust advertising package on Newschoolers, so they're totally giving back to the community in addition to all this.
TL;DR - Saga = Legit

Saga. All that being said, the feed back from this community is key. Its what helps us grow and shapes our future.
.Hansel.Go back to just the #sagasummer and pick the coolest damn photo from that week like you used to.

zzzskizzzI find I'm getting really old with all the younger kids caring a lot more about Instagram and the likes they get. It makes me sad :(
