4 point landings??????

alright so im not talking about Olympics. so do you guys know a a 4 point landing, where your skis land and both of your poles land at the same time? ive been messing around with this because ive seen some guys that are really good do it. haha- so ive tried it and it helps me out a TON when dropping cliffs, bad landings, ect. . ........ now to rain on the parade, a bunch of people say this is very dangerous. how is this dangerous or whatever, and should i stop doing it?

As a ski coach, 4 point landings are how you are suppose to coach jumping when kids are first learning... mostly to practice correct popping and air control. Once you get advanced enough its not really necessary.. maybe dropping cliffs but if you think about it, it is really the same as landing with your hands out in front just to maintain balance.
Maybe your just use to landing with your hands at your side, and doing a four point landing will keep your balance more in line.

yup 4 pointer is the stomp position for cliffs

only drawback is that if something goes wrong on a big drop and your weight is nice and forward there's a higher chance of going knee-to-face rather than backslap.

I don't 4 point, just keep my hands in front when dropping anything or landing in pow, I could see how it would help to learn proper position though, look at sammy C, he basically 4 points with just keeping the poles out or back instead of down.

exactly, its an exercise and not a way to land. However, I teach beginners to do them.

^ What he said. I use them when i teach kid how to jump to teach them how to keep their balance while landing

That is how you stomp like a boss. If you hit a cliff and four point I will send shock waves across the valley. Pure science.

Just be sure to have your knees and hands wide so you don't KO yourself if you go deep

4 point landings only good for pow and big big stuff...just don't throw your poles down on hardpack or you'll destroy your arms

I may be wrong. But doesn't Tanner have a mogul skiing background? I'm pretty sure that's exactly how they land when they do the jumps halfway down the course. Possibly setting themselves up for whatever is coming next? the next set of moguls. Or in this case, another cliff?

Yes THall use to ski moguls, so you are correct. It's just so they can get their poles out in front of them and pole plant so hit the moguls.

Is my meter broken? To me, on skis, a 4 point landing is when all 4 pieces of your bindings land at the same time, or both tips and both tails land at the same time.

If this thread is just an attempt to get kids to smash themselves in the face with their poles, then well done. If not, I think you're confused.
