I'm in the process of trying to get internet installed at my house for the winter and I got quoted over $100 for 50mbps, $85 for 35mbps, and $65 for 20mbps. Absolutely retarded. I hope the Google Fiber project takes over the world ( https://fiber.google.com/about/)

Btw I pay 39.99 a month for 50mb/s, no cable or phone with that, and apparently getting that exactly, which is nice to know. For once, not bad Comcast. (said no one ever.)

their info on Canada is complete BS.

you cannot get 50 Mbps for $65/month.

at the big 2 ISPs you'll be paying about $80-90/month for 50 down and at most 4 or 5 up with a pitiful cap for the price you're paying.

oh I get it. the price isn't the actual price. it's based on how much you're getting charged compared to the average cost of living. That's why Canada is shown as cheaper than US, so even though internet costs more since the cost of living is far higher it's a lower nominal cost

100mb/s down and 20mb/s up for 33 dollars a month. So, uh.. you guys should riot, boycott or something.

Graph is misleading...So many other places around the world put monthly caps so the prices get really high really fast...I also think it is more about the specific area for prices/speeds than over the entire country....

I pay $45/month and in return I get DSL that nets me 1.42 Mbps down and .89 Mbps up.

Worst part is they have me by the balls as no other providers service the address. I'm stuck with the slow despite the fact that my speeds have not changed one single bit in three years of living at the address.

The ISPs do this on purpose though.  They divided up regions of the United States and basically came to a gentleman's agreement that competitor ISP's would limit their stake in regions that weren't theirs.  In essence, they created an oligopoly.

When I lived in norther new hampshire you had the option between time warner or fairpoint most of the time. Nobody ever went with fairpoint because everybody knew how fairpoint sucked donkey balls.
