I keep loosing my air awareness when I attempt a Flat 7 and go for the additional 360 after the vertical flip... Am I supposed to turn an additional 360 after I spotted the ground or even before that? Help me out NS; sorry for the vague description.

My guess is you are setting it too much like a backflip and trying to spin out. While this is what it looks like it is not what it feels like when you do it. Basically think about leading with your right shoulder if you spin left. More of a forward motion with the lead shoulder then a backflippy and spinny motion. If that makes sense.
