New Zealand skiing

i'm a skier from New Zealand and i was wondering what nz skiing looked like from a northern hemisphere point-of-view. there has been a couple of big comps lately for olympic qualification so nz parks and stuff should be sort of well known but do guys from america and europe actually think the mountains here look sick or that the are boring because there are no trees and are nothing like the super resorts in the northern hemisphere?

Hey man. I'm from BC but currently in NZ skiing cardrona. I think the biggest thing I miss is the snow. I'm definitely not from a mega resort. But I'm used to a pow day a week (at least 15cm) that doesn't get blown away by 100km winds over night. They build really nice parks down here which is sweet though, my home mountain (Kimberley) doesn't build jumps. Also the runs are way short but that has to do with the snow as well. I guess what I could have just said was : there's way less snow here. But it doesn't bother me cuz I'm skiing in the summer.

I'm skiing remarks this year but have done 2 seasons back in france. I enjoy getting up there, but only for the park, otherwise there isn't much else going, and the lifts are so slow! I miss being able to charge around on challenging, longer slopes which last more than a minute or two, endless off-piste and backcountry. I also miss living in the mountains and having snow on your doorstep, rather than having to spend about an hour to get to the mountain, and everyone coming straight down the mountain to get pissed.

I knew when I came here it wasn't going to be as good, but I'm so glad I decided to come out, really enjoyed this season. You just have to take whats there and make the most of it.
