my basement is so fucked. and my pool completely overflowed and leaked into the garden/basement/neighbors basement. I had to drive about 3km to pick up my gf at the non-functioning subway station and drive her home, it took 2 hours.

here are 2 videos that i took from my [passenger seat] as i drove home.


i was terrified in this first video. rivers were so violent and huge. really shouldnt have left home

Yeah I am going to sound a bit ignorant here. But I thought that floods generally came from rain collecting in hills and flowing into valleys. I can't think of any area where that would happen to this degree in Toronto.

i was being sarcastic in case anyone was wondering. i've been to toronto a few times, and i know it's close enough to water, but i wouldn't be able to say how close. my mom comes from toronto. i went on the assumption that she wasn't a complete baffoon, and was making a mild joke. to add to the topic, my father lives in a flood zone. he's about 200 feet from a river, not near mountains, but his street, which ends at the river, does slope downwards towards the river. all the houses in his neighborhood don't have basements because there's a risk of flooding when the water levels are higher on certain years. this year would be a good example of when water levels are higher - quebec has seen more rain this spring, summer, than i can remember. last year, the lake near my uncles was much lower than it is this year. so i think it's normal that a body of water accumulates water, when it rains more frequently.

while a flash flood would probably be mainly rain water because the sewers back up.

no it's not invisible. There's a good HD display in the top right corner of about 5 pixels. Looks great!

I work at a coffee in an underground path. last night's close was THE WORST. The people would not stop coming ! Then they'd sit there and shred garbage everywhere while trying to wait for the rain to pass, and when it was finally all over, I got to walk home in the rain. This is what we get for not investing in any sort of transportation infrastructure for the past 60 years.

Jesus you're sounding like a real weiner right now. I don't even live in Toronto, but as for calling in the military when they got a snow storm, they don't have anywhere to put the snow. That's what causes the issues. It's not like people looked outside, saw snow, and then started crying and shit their pants. Toronto is by far Canadas biggest city, and one of the biggest in North America. Of fucking course a blanket of snow is going to be an issue for it.

When Calgary gets its floods everyone is all sympathy. Yet it happens to Toronto (albeit, not on the same scale at all), and suddenly anyone who opens their mouth about it is a pussy. Calgary will be fine, horses can swim.
