Coreupt return?

SO I was reading the forums on "skieur" magazine today and saw something about Danyel Bruyant from Axunn buying coreupt... and that they will be returning for next winter with new product. Their site apparently goes live in June.. anyone heard anything about this? I've never ridden a coreupt ski, but still wondering about it.. sorry if this is a repost.. i searched for it and didn't find anything on it.

That would be sick, hopefully they dont go quite as hard and sponsor all the big names like last time. most people already know the brand and its reputation anyway

Sounds like Axxun trying to sell skis off the CoreUpt name. But if Axxun is building them they'll just be shitty Axxuns with CoreUpt written on them, not actually CoreUpts.

I'm pretty sure they were already building them for Coreupt and they essentially bought Coreupt's assets out of bankruptcy court including the molds, etc.

Molds and bill of materials are probably the only thing Coreupt really had control over. Axunn was building the actual skis/doing the labor.

The cores on them are piss poor which is ironic for coreupt. The wood they use is too soft and can't take a screw being driven into them properly and getting a solid mount is hard. The top sheets chip pretty bad aswell but that's a common problem with regular sandwich construction.

Yeah that's my only 2 complaints, had my fks heels pull out which is pretty annoying, I'd still say its probably more likely the shops fault though.

but people are a lot happier with almost any other skis besides a few.... haha I see no point in coreupt returning, there are far too many ski brands right now as it is and they brought nothing spectacular to the table in the slightest.

I object to every point you have made. I've had a pair of 11/12 Assentions for over a year now and they've been solid, although I did file the edges of the topsheet like always. Mounted them myself, screws felt better than some I've done recently. Hit some rocks today, minimal damage.

My previous Axxun comments are mainly from a customer whose skis I remounted 3 times around 09/10 (including 4 helicoils that ripped out) and the things looked pretty beat-up from minimal use. I'm not aware of any previous collabration between Axxun and CoreUpt, any proof of this?

And whoever made some remark about China = shit quality, get over yourself.

You file the edges? I assume this is to reduce chips? Got a tutorial? Sounds retardedly easy but I wouldn't wanna over do it, I chip my skis way too easily with the amount I crash.

And yeah i basically ski more rocks than snow at the Cairngorms and only have 1 tiny core shot

Just use a bastard file at 45 degrees on the edge of the topsheet then smooth it over slightly to get it rounded. It's pretty subtle just to take the edge off, not so much to go through to any fibreglass.

And do you find that does a lot? Do you go over it with epoxy or anything after? Why don't ski companies just do this?

Yeah it helps stop small scrapes especially if you keep your edges sharp. Some skis are rounded at the top, and some now come with a slight cap construction at the top which does the same thing. Straight sandwich is cheapest and easiest I guess.

Get over myself? Its no secret that shitty skis come from asia in the thousands. There are exceptions to the rule, not all factories elsewhere are awesome, and not all Chinese skis suck. There is a reason that they cost half as much as a ski hand made in the US or pushed out of most european factories.

Time will tell if this was a good move on their part!

k2 has come out to say that in China they can control their quality levels way better than when they were in the states. They're still using the same materials and processes, just on a way bigger scale with dirt cheap labour.

The reason chinese skis cost half as much is because of lower labour costs compared to other countries and has nothing to do with the quality or the process in which they are made. The reason they don't all have the same durability is because some companies realize that they can't compete with china on cost alone so they have to improve quality to make it seem worth while to the buyer.

Little bump & update on this.
Apparently, the return of Coreupt is taking shape, with as mentionned, no outerwear, a more restricted range of skis and a way smaller team. Kevin Rolland and Xavier Bertoni, who both have been skiing without a ski sponsor this season, are likely to be the on Coreupt for the upcoming season.
Expect a new website and more announcements during the summer, with a possible overview of the skis during IF3.

wasnt the only way to get a pair of coreupts was to buy online? unless they open themselves up to the brick and mortar stores, i think they'll still struggle to establish themselves.

ya that reason is because the price of labour is so much cheaper. the product is not bad because of where it's made, you're basicly saying chinese people are less capable of labour. The reason for poor product out of china is because of them demand from the company for ever cheaper products thus using cheaper materials making them less durable, adequate, etc. It has nothing to do with where they were manufactured. Plz take you ignorance some place else.

Not true. They were definitely being sold in freezeproshop, as i considered a pair before i bought blends. Maybe outside of europe i dont know but there are plenty of brands that you can only buy online in europe/really struggle to find in a store. PS stop using the phrase bricks and mortar. Im pretty sure you've used it in every post ive seen from you.

ok ill rephrase, could only be bought online if you wanted a pair in the states... which im about 99.9% was true. they may have a lot of success in europe, but a lot of people still like to see and feel something before they purchase. at least, thats what we preach.

Maybe your specific area, as at least in Canada they were/ are easily available in Toronto, but not so much in Ottawa.

I understand where you are coming from. I was just making a point that if I only lived in Ottawa I would assume that coreupt wasn't in Canada, but because I also live in Toronto I know that isn't true. - More or less you would have to be all over the US to say that they aren't in the states at all, I would bet that some shops carried them, especially if they made it to Ontario.

Im glad a shop found value in NS and put some one on here but honestly this kind of comment would turn of off a shop so fast. I could just imagine trying to deal with you over the phone about a mixed up order or a warranty issue. my.02cents came here after the thread you created,

I couldn't tell whether coreupt made shitty skis or couldn't manage their shit but all I remember from them was having a stacked team around 2010 and then having it disintegrate into just colby james west within like a year.

you do realize that China has stepped up their game in the manufacturing department right? K2 just built a state of the art factory there. Quality Control is taken seriously and they pump out the highest quality skis now. Id take that over an old tired US factory any day. They cost half as much than if they were produced in the US because of UNIONS.

Highest quality skis? That's highly, HIGHLY debatable.

I vote for USA. K2 china skis blow, and I can speak on this because I rode maidens year. They were the most dead, boring, and lowest quality skis I've ever ridden.
