So this summer I really want to perfect 270 ons. I have tried them before but never really got a good one. So my question is should I come in from the side or split the rail? Thanks
its easier to split it, but alot of the time you most likely wont be able to because it will be a side entry rail so it would be good to learn both, however splitting the rail would be easier
Do NOT split the rail, learn to come from the side from the beginning.
People tend to get stuck with their head and look backwards when they've landed on the rail, try to turn your head downhill. This makes it easier to lock on to the rail, understand when to prepare for the takeoff and have a nice landing.
For down rails pop, throw your shoulders hard, and use that momentum to more slowly and precisely drop your skis directly onto the rail at 270 degrees.
pop get like 90 over the rail make sure you are set then spin. may seem like a lot at first but if you break it down in the pop, spin, and lock on phase it really helps. learn side on and just find a low rail you can land backwards on to really get into the pop then spin aspect of it. Hope that helps!
i always come in from an angle and really aim for the side of the rail. once im on the side of the rail i can really lock in and use my edges to guide myself. if i try to come in straight on i find that i kind of miss the rail occasionally and i cant balance to the end
