that was very very weak for a comp with so much hype. why would people be doing the same 5 year old trick on the pole jam for half the comp when you could win so much money and if a double cork wins a rail comp??? that will be terrible

The announcers were easily the best part of this whole ordeal. LVV and Reed are incredible individuals with a natural talent for having a shit ton of fun. I literally had the live feed going just to listen to them be goofballs.

Are you fucking kidding me? For the past 3 years War of Rails has contained the some of the best skiing that I have ever witnessed in person with the level of tricks consistently increasing run to run and year to year. That is also one of the burliest, tightest, and most high consequence courses that I have ever seen and certainly skied on. I realize that the live feed, and probably even the edits won't fully do the setup and the level of skiing justice, but regardless that is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard. When guys like Giray, Kutcher, and Karl get injured or banged up and need surgery or have to step away from the course, you know that it is burly and high consequence. And despite how next level the course is, everyone was still SENDING everything, going huge, dropping hammers and coming up with some crazy unique lines and tricks.

You making that statement is equivalent to saying "Wow the Indy 500 was really weak this year, super disappointing that they only drove 190 mph in a circle, I mean people have been doing that for years now. Why didn't those pussies take a page out of Ken Blocks book and drift everything at 190 mph?" If you knew anything about Indy car racing, you would understand that is one of the dumbest things anyone could say. And if you knew anything about skiing you would understand that your OP is one of the dumbest and most ill informed statements anyone could make about that comp.

Craig and the whole crew put on an amazing event that is one of a kind and provides IMO some of the most banger footage of the year, especially from contests. If you still stand behind what you say, I challenge you to come out to Big Bear next year and just look at the setup without shitting your pants, much less actually try to hit it.

is there going to be a re broadcast of the stream? I want to see myself making a fool of myself touting bern.

To anyone saying this course was weak then obviously Video and Pictures do not do this setup justice... The sheer height of things, the lack of space and quickness of the transitions made this the biggest and craziest rail jam setups ever period. Never seen so many kids that I know personally are pretty fearless when it comes to hitting urban stuff, being afraid of this course. Trust me this course is amazing, and War of Rails is quite possibly the best contest in Freeskiing. Keep up the great work Coker and Skiv. you guys kill it year after year!

Yeah....it's pretty easy to talk shit about that setup...until you are looking down from the drop in figuring out what the fuck you're going to do that doesn't involve a significant risk of death or permanent disability.

It seemed to me like there were some kids who just sat up top for the better part of 45 mins, especially during the first heat. I felt like I was seeing the same 5-7 people over and over while some I saw go maybe twice. Not that I blame kids for being afraid to drop into what was obviously a huge, intimidating course. I can't speak for everyone but I do know that even a lot of the pros were pretty nervous. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions of course but I thought it was extremely impressive live.

he got pretty messed up and needed some surgeries for several broken bones. hes going to be ok after some time. unfortunately he is now stranded in so cal and looking for any help getting a ride back to slc.

Potentially the the least convincing analogy I've ever seen.

And if you had read Cal's post more carefully, you would understand that the course was not the issue. Nobody is questioning how gnarly the set up was. In fact, it may have even been too difficult, consequently hampering the level of creativity some of us were anticipating.
