If parents want to protect there kids from porn that badly they already have all kinds of shady ass systems set up like net nanny and all that bullshit. Banning porn nation wide to "save the children" lol yeah right, good luck.

That's really fucking stupid. If you do some research there is some really fucked up stuff going on with porn. Lots of abuse and STD's and availability to minors.

But banning porn is just stupid. First of all because it's unrealistic. It would cost a ridiculous amount of money to try and filter out all of the porn.

It's also stupid because it doesn't deal with what I believe the problem is. I don't care if someone chooses to watch porn. Even if you sit at home and watch porn all day it doesn't affect me in any way. However I do care about all of the abuse going on. How would banning porn do ANYTHING to stop this? It's not like porn wouldn't get made, it would just be made by even shadier people who don't care about the law. It's exactly like how banning cocaine only makes things worse for the South Americans who work on plantations.

This is just another example of people with PC values doing stupid fucking things.

oh sure, the government can provide health care at very little out of pocket expense, robust public transportation, an extremely cush social safety net, force employers to provide 6+ weeks of vacation a year, but try to block mah porn euros get all like 'muh freeeedums'

Yeah I don't think government officials realize just how hard this would be to enforce. The pirate bay has been up for years and had to fight harder legislation than this. Even if they did pull it off Iceland would be burned to the ground by mobs of angry men ranging from 14 - 45.
