Has anyone ever just picked up and made a huge life change on a whim?

Well its not quite on a whim but it sure feels like it. I have been not too happy about where I am in my life, working a decent job that pays well but its not a like of work I enjoy. I don't like the city I live in and really don't have many friend I feel like I am leaving behind (after 6 years here that's shitty to say).

I have toyed with the idea of leaving and going somewhere new to start over but can't find a job yet anywhere else, nor do I even know where to begin looking cause I could honestly go anywhere. I just know I don't like where I am.

I am just looking for some stories of people who picked up, left everything they knew and went somewhere they didn't know or didn't know well.

i saved up 600 dollars, took a semester off from school, and moved to salt lake for a couple months last year when i was 18. i got a job at a pizza shop, rode the city bus, and rented a cheap ass apartment. it wasnt easy, but it wasnt that hard either, and i learned more about life in those 2 months than i ever could have hoped for.

Considered anywhere in Canada? I have been in Revelstoke for the winter, and I had originally planned to spend one winter out west and get it out of my system. I can't. I've decided I want to spend a few years here. Is there anyone interested in finding a place next winter? I just don't want to be living on the basement I'm in for three years. But I want to stay in town.

I've finished up a general AA degree but there isn't any majors or colleges to transfer to that interest me right now. I've been lightly debating on moving out west after this summer and just start fresh. This thread is making me really want to get out there now.

Well the Canadian west is awesome. We aren't a whole lot different than the states, and the mountains are amazing. Worth it.

I did crack once. It ruined my life and my families life. And my friends are all in therapy because of the time I did crack.

Moved to Switzerland for 5 months.

Bought a 1 way ticket 6 days before I left. Called my dad from the airport.

Parents weren't surprised, I was stoked. Turned out great. Best summer of my life.

Yep, quite a few times, I've lived in Greece, Turkey, US, NZ, Japan and Chile. Probably the biggest change was moving to South America, I was pretty used to NZ after 4 seasons there, but wanted a change, so just booked flights, went to Venezuela for a month to learn Spanish, then flew down to Argentina to work there, a volcano erupting meant I ended up in Chile, but it turned out sick, and I should be back there for my 3rd season this summer.
