The "I'm not very good at this sport" Confession Thread
So I've been doing freestyle for 4 years. Everyone loves to talk about how good they are with these "edits" and things. I''m here to admit, to all of newschoolers that I suckkk. I don't really mind cause I'm still having fun, but its been 4 years and I only do 360s, off of 20 ft jumps max. And rail tricks, forget about it. FS 270 is about as far as I get.
I KNOW I'm not alone. This is safe place to admit your suckage.
i wish i had learned not to care about how good I was sooner in life haha but im at the point where I'm good enough to go out and hit everything in the park and have fun. i gave up on learning new tricks and now i focus on making the ones I know just look cooler.
I live on the east coast and go to college in South Carolina so thats my excuse, but I'm shit at park skiing. Ive got 3s pretty locked and I can 2 out of boxs, but Im fine with that because Ill still hit most cliffs.
All that being said, I am really good at shredsauce and was really good at Jibbin
Come to think of it half of the people on this site now probably dont know what Jibbin is
I haven't progressed at all since college. My goal is just to keep doing what I've been able to do before. I'll only get mad at myself if I bitch out of something I've been fully capable of before (like backflips, haven't done one in 3 years as well). Some of the best park skiers I grew up with no longer do it at all. Nothing at all wrong with moving on and getting into new things, but the way I see it every year I motivated and well enough to keep skiing park is reason enough to be content. No reason to get yourself hurt and not be able to work, only a handful of people on this site if that will ever make enough money to legitimately live off of skiing professionally.
I've been skiing since I was 3 years old and all I have to show for it is going fast on groomers. Park? forget about it. Big mountain? doable but scary af. Couldn't land a 3 if my life depended on it....
Injuries have sorta shat on any confidence I had, which wasn't much to begin with.. So yeah. I pretty much blow at park. When you do this shit hitting a rail it doesn't exactly inspire you to try new tricks:
yup i suck, and yet i spend the little money i make on new ski stuff.... cause i love skiing so much...ill get better someday hopefully and do my gear proud
I suck, i tore my right mcl and then one year later i sprained it (both times on jumps) after that ive been freaked out about doing the smallest spins of jumps. ive practically given up on my jumping game. my rail game is creative, but max 2s on and off. ive been skiing park for one an a half years. But im having fun so it doesn't matter
I have a similar circumstance. I've now got 7 years of powder, groomer, and mogul skiing under my belt, as well as being able to front, back, and sideflip on tramp and spin up to 9 on tramp. But this will be my first year of park. I'm a little intimidated, but I think I'll progress fairly quickly due to the fact that I already know how to ski (unlike many kids in the park), and control my body in the air from trampoline. I'm just out there to have fun in any case, so any "progression" will just be an added bonus!
Y'all can speak for yourselves I'm a goddamn baller y'all feel me
GODDAMN BALLER YO
YO I'M SUCH A BALLER I CAN POP 5s AND I LISTEN TO MILEY FUCKING CYRUS AND DRAKE AND EMINEM BECAUSE THEY'RE LEGIT Y'ALL OH YEAH AND MOTHERFUCKING LORDE TOO THAT BITCH CAN SUCK A FAT FINGER Y'ALL
It's my first year, trying to land my first three. Am comfortable at riding switch but don't have the balls to land switch. Can hit rails and boxes but no tricks or spins off of them. Getting better though hopefully I progress alot
grabs are easily the most underestimated thing in skiing, its so difficult, it throws you body off alot trying to do anything but a safety. This is something I am coming to realize so far this season.
On another note, I finally started hitting rails once I realized I am fat as hell and need about 30% more speed then the average person who cuts me off in order to pop and turn 90 to get on the rail.
I suck, I only do 3s off jumps and 2s out of rails. But I think its justified because this is my beginning of my second season ever skiing and also 2nd park skiing
Been freestyle skiing for two years, 10 years racing prior to that. I can do 3s on small kickers only, grabs on medium stepdowns, and some very basic box rails with maybe one switch
I've been skiing since I was 2 but started becoming more of a park skier in 6th grade when i was 12. im now 15 and have only just now started to kinda grow balls and hit the features ive been envying other people hitting, I have even gotten myself a few small sponsors, its all about fun and progression
This is my first season skiing I can front 2 on occasion and front swap on occasion as well I can do 180's and have done one with a safety once.. I suck quite bad.. I feel especially bad because I ski with kids who can super fed and do flips and stuff
