Advice on small work out routines.

so i'm sure there's a few of you on here that are like myself. I'm tall, athletic build, never really had a problem with weight or what not even tho you never work out..

buut, as i'm getting older, and as i went home for the holidays and my brother saw me without a shirt and said, "deng, you've put on some weight." i've realized i should probably start doing a small work out of some sort.

so i'm asking you guys. what small work outs do you do to just keep you fit, keep the chubbiness off, and just stay a bit healthier? i dont want to bulk up or anything, just to stay lean.

go to hasfit on youtube. good 10 to 30 min workouts. but 80% of it is all about diet and drinking limited alcohol. something i personally struggle with

I mean, P-90X is great for staying in shape. It ain't easy, but for less than an hour a day at home it works wonders.

theres no easy way to lose weight. it takes a lot of energy. running stairs is pretty good. in the summer i went for a bikeride across town everyday and it put me in great shape for skiing.

alternate between push ups and crunches each night with maybe a rest day, when i haven't got time to go to the gym this really helps to keep in shape. when they get boring/too easy introduce variations, like double crunches, push ups on fists etc. Also really good for a starting point if you've been away from the gym fo awhile and helps you build some basic strength so you don't look so pathetic compared to everyone else! I do about 3 sets of 25 each night.
also really good are ab wheels, you can pick up a decent one for like $10 and are really good for building base strength. hopefully that helps

I had the same problem, just wanted to find a short workout without any extra weights or equipment. Now I have started push ups, I do them one day, then leave a day out.

Started off with 100 push ups and tried to get them done in the least amount of sets possible - first it was 20/20/20/20/20, then 30/30/20/20, now I can easily do 40/40/20, so I've started doing 200 push ups, and will probably just continue making it a little bit more difficult as I go.

Mountain climbers are a good workout to do in your room. No equipment, no running route, I'd start off with sets of 20, four counts then build up. Burpees and 8 count bodybuilders are awesome. Do different push up variations; diamond, spiderman, wide grip, divebombers, There are a million different ab workouts, those will hit most of the basic areas. Pair that with running a couple times a week and staying active, you shouldn't have any problems.
