Anyone want free chairlifts?

Come to California and just straight up steal one (like those dudes in the czech republic did in this story: http://unofficialnetworks.com/ski-lift-stolen-czech-republic-96232/)

there's at least 6 abandoned doubles and even a single chair!

Kratka Ridge (30 minutes from LA!)

Somebody should get the balls, steal all the chairlifts available, then go start their own silverton somewhere by frankensteining the parts together.

God, some of those spots would be sweet to set up, and the pow would be perfect. Im thinking a couple of sleds and you'd have the perfect NS weekend retreat.

This. I'm going to go on craigslist to see if anyone would be willing to let us maybe rent a sled they are trying to sell for like $100 or so.

We could all go up, mid storm, hike a little, and build A FUCKING SICK ASS FUCKING KICKER/booter and just ride and have fun, down a couple brews and just chill.



If anyone has a snowmobile that they could bring, that would be litterally soooo legit.

Didn't the people who bought Waterman buy Kratka with it too? although I heard they weren't planning to reopen it (Kratka) as a ski area which they are Waterman.

I hear kratka's just doomed to rot at this point... They did reopen waterman though... which is pretty sweet if you ask me. place is STEEEP down near the bottom (as with most southern resorts, like June and Baldy, etc)

I think they took all these down to sell them, but theyre just sitting in the parking lot, so they would be even easier to steal

There are 2 riblet doubles sitting in the parking lot that they were going to put in the summer before they decided to shut down the operation.

load em up in a couple semis and plan your new ski area. when they ask where you got the lifts? say you found em. burn all the serial numbers off, and you're golden.

Yeah, but I think you still had to go the long way around the backroad, since 2 above la canada was still closed.

maybe they did open up. i dont' know. My dad says that mountain's DOPE though...

The lifts still looked pretty good. I went up top but didnt really check that part out, I just figured sleds would be easier.
And the 2 girls are NS'ers, tee.enn.ell and mac.mac

Nearly 100% certain that the chairs at Iron were run by electricity with diesel backup like most are.

Oh, I'm sure they could be retrofitted, all the skeleton is in place to get them going...

It would probably cost at least 10 grand for a new drive though... I'd assume, anyways.

Theres actually a guy close to New London in New Hampshire that started his own ski area. No one can go but his family. i stopped by last year just to check it out and talk to him. pretty sweet. Quite expensive to start your own ski area tho...

There's a guy who owns the land on the backside of squaw, that kinda interconnects the area between Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley. He's had lifttowers up to the backside of KT22 for years...

Come to granite peak in wisconsin. They just took out an old lift and replaced it with a new one and just threw ALL the old parts into the woods. You could reassemble it and have a whole lift if you would like.

to whoever was looking for sleds on craigslist,

most 100 sleds are in good shape, just make sure the skis are ok, and most likley you'll just have to clean the carb out which only take a few minutes, and it will run like a champ.  what we use to do at my local hill anyways
