Positive thinking needs to be a pattern, not a one time thing, its unreasonable to expect to win the lottery buying one ticket. And in order to be successful you have to be willing to fail but keep trying, by maintaining an optimistic outlook, working hard, and learning from your mistakes eventually you can achieve your goals. That is what I took away from watching the Secret.
It took me a long time to realize that change takes time. I first watched The Secret in 2008 and they make it sound so simple, and they are right, positive thinking is the secret to success. For me the execution is much harder.
I made a commitment to make improvement in my life two years ago. At that time I was dealing with some legal charges, and was really disillusioned with college, society etc. I had a poor attitude and was pretty lost, but I knew I had the power to make my situation better, it helped a lot that I'm "free, white and 21 but that's another discussion.
I made a commitment to improving my time management, I figured being organized and knowing how to follow a schedule is a universal formula for success. After about two year of this commitment to self-improvement I feel I've gained some ground. The cool thing about it was how subtle the realization was that all of things I'd been working on where falling into place. Once I made that realization I was stoked to keep pushing and take this success further!!
The best thing about the secret is the vision board. Surrounding yourself with images and positive words related to your goals engrains them in your head until it's almost subconscious. A this point you'll naturally gravitate to whatever you're thinking about.
Your are what you think about!!
