Ever thought about starting Snowboarding

Don't get me wrong here. ill still always ski. but i also kind of want to try snowboarding.
If you ask why. it just looks fun also just like skiing. the community are all really nice and welcoming.
What are your thoughts?
have you ever thought about it?

doing a big phat heel side or toe side turn in deep pow on a board is hands down the best feeling you can have on snow. they are so much easier to handle in powder. oh and cliff drops, oooooooooffffffffftttttt

i unfortunately tried it on a good day. even though i have skated for like 5 years i sucked at it. and got annoyed because i couldnt do what i want or keep up with friends. so i lasted about 4 hours ten changed

if it is a really awful day then i sometimes switch with my friends its kind of fun but i love skiing too much to give it up

I snowboarded when I was a lad. I didn't like it cause I sucked but now that im older I feel I could pick it up and do stuff easier, but... I probably wont try again.

I've actually snowboarded longer than I have been skiing. Both are pretty damn sweet. Every now and then when I look at the cost of what skiing is for hardgoods it makes me want to switch back to snowboarding more. Not saying its lightyears cheap... but ski boots are so damn expensive these days

This so much, whats an expensive, top of the line snowboard boot cost? $300? $300 will just get you into the game if you are buying a new ski boot.

I've always wondered this too. You know how at basicelly ever thrift store, pawn shop, or whatever, there is always like three old boards for sale? If you are a boarder hitting urban, couldn't you just pick up a couple of cheap boards for $100 and use those for your urban sticks? I would love to be able to walk into any old pawn shop and be able to pick up a pair of OG invaders for urban.

nah dude a good top of the line board can be $600 easily.. still not as much as skis cost but not $300..

and yea u can go into a thrift store and buy them hella cheap but remember that they are there for a reason so their would have to be something wrong with them

Boots, not board.

There is nothing wrong with most stuff at the thrift store, most of the time its just old or not used anymore, and people get rid perfectly good equipment all the time.

ahhhh shit sorry lol misread that.. but even then snowboard boots need to be fitted just like ski boots. sure they r a lot softer and more comfortable but if ur wanting the most out of ur boots u still have to go through much of the same process as fitting ski boots. and for a reasonably high end boot that u want to get the most out of u can pay an easy $400 and more

I do both, some days one is better than the other/ i'll do one in the morning and the other later in the day. If you can do it definitely go for it. Nothing wrong with going both ways!

not to mention that snowboard boots are WAAAAAAY more comfortable and really sick if you walking/hiking alot (mostly park)

I can do both. Learned to board last year 1 day and can hit boxes and small rails. Picked it up quick after only 1 day

i swing both ways, for sure. im terrible at boarding, but can link turns down any blue. its super fun. when learning, make sure you give it at least three days. youll be super frustrated at first, but then it will just click. way fun. DO IT!!!!!

I sometimes switch with my friends when all the park features sucks and we are to lacy to fix it. It's really fun and I was actually thinking about getting a used board and some cheap boots from a friend last year, I have never been thinking about quitting skiing but seeing how often my local hill sucks it would have been fun trying to become decent at snowboarding to. Also it would have been really nice to bring a board when I film and take photos because the boots are so much nicer to wear.

Ive done it a few times just switching with friends and have gotten pretty good at it honestly. rails are tough but im gonna try a few jumps this year. i would really be stoked on a 3 and backflip, but its tough to do so when your using homies boards

i swapped with my friend for a couple of runs on a lousy day. by the end of 2 hours i could carve decently well both ways, slide rails, and do a switch 180 over a 10 foot jump. but it didnt feel as fun as skiing.

im a snowboarder but i can ski well too. i switched with my friends several times in the last few years and even bought my own pair of old ar6s for myself. i generally like snowboarding better (like anyone could say about their own sport) but its so fun trying something new. its crazy how quickly youll pick it up already having skiing experience and its fun learning new stuff. I progressed so quickly when i started skiing my friends told me to straight up switch to skiing. so i would totally recommend trying it out

I started out snowboarding and did it for 5 years. I tried skiing and haven't strapped on my snowboard since.  Don't get me wrong, snowboarding was awesome, but I enjoy skiing more.  I will admit that bombing down trails was much more fun on a snowboard though

I board once in a while, just for the fun of it. The guys at the shop would lend me one of the rentals and go ride for a few hours. I got quite good at it. Snowboarding, for me, is a way to practice with new forces and movements.

i used to swap with my friends on boring days, then i bought my friends capita set up off him for $200. I broke it doing a shifty back 180 over a 40 foot table and then got $500 store credit through warranty.

I felt it was a sign and didnt get another snowboard

I bought a snowboard and rode on it a couple times only cause the crew i ride with is mostly snowboarders so when they give me shit for being a skier i can show half of them up on a snowboard:)

haha until you have to traverse or need upward mobility. hate skiing pow with my boarder friends cause they cant get anywhere on the mountain without taking off their board and death marching it

I put 100 days a year on my boots. Typically it's just telling the shop what I desire and they'll tell me what's good and I fit them myself. And a good board does not cost $600. It'll be anywhere from 300-500. Bindings around 100-250. Though buy last years models and you'll save around half. Burton is overrated and they don't support the industry. Go for Signal, StepChild, Forum, Capita, Dinosaurs Will Die, Lib Tech, Rome etc...

I go out on a board a couple days a year. This season I want to take out a split and see what I can do in the backcountry. I've done all I can inbounds without sacrificing a deep pow day to see what all the hype is about for pow, so the backcountry it is. It will never be able to trump skiing though, it's just not a good enough tool.

Snowboarding is super fun, especially in pow. It really sucks though when you fall in the really deep stuff and get stuck and have to get out of your bindings to walk out, just a minor complain though lol. Having done both however I definitely prefer skiing overall.

I've been skiing since I was 3 then I also snowboarded from like 10-15. I quit cause I just liked skiing way more so I stopped going out on it and I sold my board to a friend. It was fun and I was decent in the park but I just lost interest. I also didn't wanna risk hurting myself on it.

I started Snowboarding when I was 9 and started skiing when I was fifteen. Haven't looked back

snowboarding pow is fun, but its not practical, traversing is a nightmare, sidecountry is difficult because you cant travel without taking your board off and then you sink into pow up to your chest

I rode a board for 10+ years. Then skiing got a lot less boner-ific with all of the advances in tech, so I picked up some skis and haven't really looked back.

a good board can be upto $900 or more.. it really depends what u classify as a good board. i got my lib tech for $350 on a pro deal through my shop and even then it was an ex-demo that had been ridden once. i guess skiing is the same in the sense u can buy last years gear for cheap too.. i put 100+ days on my boots a season and they usually retail for about $500 for the boots i ride in.

Oh that sucks, here in the US everything is more affordable. Pretty sure a Lib at my local shops runs around 400 and the most expensive Board around 500. However there are a few Burton boards with retardedly high price tags on them...around $900+ it's crazy.

nah man lib techs r worth way more.. minimum of like $549usd as a RRP, even on their website.. at my shop we sell libs for like $699 depending on which model.. burtons shit and overrated so i dont even pay attention to them but their baracuda and more pow specific boards with heaps of tech in them are often priced at the $900 or more mark.. and bindings u can pick up a really nice pair of unions for $329ish
