how do you grind a rail do you just jump on it slide down and keep your balance

Heheh. More or less... With your uphill ski, you pretty much gotta keep the base flat on the pole, but with your downhill one, you gotta angle it up slightly so that it wont catch. Not to much though or you'll just bail. I did that last season and broke/dislocated my shoulder and was out for the year. It was my 4th run of the year too (I was getting greedy trying to pul a 270 on for the first time heheh) so that sucked. But yah. Just takes practice man. I'd advise to hit low boxes, get comfortable with sliding on em, then upgrade to the rails. Rails slide like hell, so be careful. Don't go crazy like I did last season, or you might pay just as I did.

That's the way to learn. Just build something with a small degree of inclanation, and then gradually go steeper, so you can get used to the slide on those bitches.

you have to worry about catching your front downhill edge 0%....ok maybe 6%, but really, your focus when you get on the rail shouldnt be to have your front foot angled

Haha born2ski dude. It was my 4th run of the season, first rail of the season, and she was a 28 footer. Sure it wasn't nuts, but spare me the sarcasm. It's not easy to do after a long summer of nothing.

i reckon yer body stance is more important, make sure you bend yer knees, and dont lean too far back. have yer legs around about shoulder width, but i like mine wider than that, within reason of course

commit all the way to 90 and don't expect any sideways resistance. that was the hardest part when i learned is that your used to having resistance when you put your skis perpendicular to the slope but on a rail/box you have none. bend your knees but try to stay relaxed

the hardest part to get over when learning to slide a rail is to not lean back. It is natural tendency to lean back/uphill but don't do it, keep your weight centered.

keep your weght forward and on your downhill SKI, the reason you see alot of people bail and land on their hip there first times doing rails is because they think there gonna catch and edge and fall, it wont happen unless you hop on the rail with your front ski hitting first, then your face....then your other ski



-let people do what they want, ski how you want, make whoever you want your role model its your choice

gotta have a wide stance so u dont slip out make sure u pop and turn 90 degrees once ur on the rail u have to look at the end of it to grease the whole thing
