Anyone like Surfjan Stevens?

well aside from the production being terrible it was pretty good, sufjan rules. good work.

I do like Sufjan Stevens, and that cover was pretty good. I'd just say that I am automatically 100x more impressed with original music but covers are a good place to start!

They do a ton of their own written music, they are just starting to produce videos and stuff

I love Sufjan Stevens, and I thought the video was pretty interesting.....but.

Way too much unnatural vibrato, and just too much affectation in general. Why doesn't anyone just sing anymore? I swear to god that the "look at me!" nature of youtube, facebook, etc. has seeped into music, art, etc. and everybody just tries way too fucking hard.

That guy has some talent, and he definitely has good taste, but he managed to turn a sweet, simple song with almost lullaby, infantile appeal into a John Mayerishly oversung jerk off fest. It was the equivalent of playing puff the magic dragon and during the key melody playing a bunch of fucking scales and turning into trey anasthefuckeveryouspellit.

I'm sorry to be so negative, but that is just such an incredible song, and that cover was just too much with too little.

Sufjan Stevens is up there among my top 5 favourite artists, hes absolutely amazing.

This cover was good, a little bit too "bro-chilling-by-a-fireplace-serenading-a-girl" ish for me, but the dude definitely got talent. I approve.
