Tattoos are so stupid

I can't even stress how dumb they are. Now im not saying EVERy one is dumb and pointless because there are those out there that have some meaning.
But I see so many kids getting tattoo's that are of little stupid sayings, dates, etc and it 1. looks beyond awful
2. it pisses me off even more when they post them on facebook and everyone is like wowwww thats so awsome looks so good when in reality it is beyond retarded
3. A little tattoo hidden whatever, but a huge sleeve or some big ass tattoo that blatently shows is so stupid. Kills so much job prospect. Even if they were the smartest dude in the world its all about appearance and how you look when making impressions.

for the first year i was at my current job , no one i worked with know i had anything tattooed on my arm and i have a half sleeve done . its covered by my work shirt and one one relized it till i walked in in a wife beater one morning . is haveing a tattoo going to affect when some one is looking to hire you i really dont think so unless your a total retard and have something done on your forehead or anyplace like wise. they are becoming more acceptable today and as long as your not getting ink dont by some out out of the back of a van can be very good looking

I don't care what other do with their bodies, but I generally am not a fan of them. I worked at a waterpark last year and I was pretty amazed of the amount of people that had tattoos, and I have to say that most of them looked brutal.
I don't understand how inconsiderate girls are when they get tattoos, after 5 kids your little butterfly will look more like a triceratops..

My girl has them up her side and dow and inside on her hip. They are sooo sexy it would blow your mind. Just colorfull flowers asking to be traced with my tounge, she loves them and i do to soo...... why the heck do tattoos of dates piss you off? a guy i knows dad died when he was like 15 and he got the dates of his life tatooed on his arm. its small and in a place you can't really see it too easily. you really think stuff like that is stupid?

Want to know how a tattoo affects your job?

Ok, with my Calfs tattooed I had to wear pants instead of shorts. Fine by me.

Oh wait, at my tech internsip, I had to wear khakis and a long sleeve button up, no one even knew about my tattoos...

Oh, and I guess the fact that I have tattoos will totally affect my Navy enlistment.

Why does a tattoo have to have meaning anyways? Its a piece of fucking artwork that looks cool... So what if I dont have meaning behind a medallion styled tattoo I get? I simply like the geometric s of it. cry for me.

Anyways, why are you so concerened? Does it bug you that bad?

I get your point but how exactly does this picture prove anything? It's some guy. I've seen this used numerous times and it's just as "real" as any advertisement you see on television.

Sure, I know lots of people who have tattoos (both visible and non-visible) that have jobs but there are still many employers who frown upon them. People are going to judge others regardless of tattoos or not. I for one judge guys on their shoes, no joke it's a deal breaker in some cases. Oh well, that's life...

Go to important job interview, you wear a Suit or a longsleeve button up depending on level of job. Employers will never know about your tattoos unless your some fuckup with neck or hand tattoos.

To the rest of the thread, yeah its unfortunate that society still thinks tattoos aren't quite acceptable for certain employment opportunities but thats something people with tattoos will have to deal with for a while to come.

OP and other tattoo "haters" get your panties out of a bunch, pick that wedgie, and chill the fuck out. It sounds like looking at someone with a tattoo is physically hurting you.

I agree some tattoos look retarded but seriously now kiddies...

i have tattoos, larger ones i suppose you could say. you couldn't tell if i had a t shirt on though. I've worked as a financial advisor...nobody knew. Currently working on a master's in accounting to be a CPA...has no effect on the work I'll do. In fact, I'd venture to say (confidently) I'm a lot smarter and more trustworthy than plenty of people without tattoos even though their immediate reaction would be vice versa.

Plus probably more determined in life overall, I'd wager. Most critics of any sort of body modification can't really argue past the points of "it's stupid", "it'll ruin your career" or "you shouldn't do that to your body".

While it's completely personal choice to use your body as a canvas or a pin cushion, to fight against those who do is futile, disrespectful and often a sign of a dull person.

Tatoos are sexy as fuck on girls and look so awesome on guys. I would love to get a sleeve but I know I never will.

A girl I am seeing just got a small tatoo right under her right breast and it looks really nice, classy and no one will see it unless she is in a bathing suit or naked.

To me it just proves that anyone could be in a high position and be tattooed and you might not ever know it. Like, that guy probably isn't a doctor, who knows. BUT, he could be. And there could be a done of doctors or lawyers or ceo's or whatever out there like that.

Haha, I remember that thread. Still baffles me how any tattoo parlor would take in a drunk customer. He does have existing ones, but isn't there usually some kind of waiting time and an appointment "to pervent regrets" is shops?

Ok, I'm a tattoo artist and I believe that tattooing is a beautiful medium af art, but we try talking people out of or let them know what there getting into when they want hand or neck tats(or a significant others name) because it is handicapping yourself in some areas. I know that you can't not hire someone in some or all of European countries because that would be "discrimination", but I live in Wisconsin and I have a friend who is an elementary school teacher with full sleeves, he covers them up at work but all his coworkers know he has them.
I think tats can be "stupid" in some cases but I try to stay on the art side of the subject when I'm at the shop. Personally I don't believe in the vanity of it all, people get tattoos to fit a certain image(or to fit there ego) or to fill something they lack, it could be like make up where they don't feel good without them. If you need tattoos to make you happy you may have a self esteem issue, or people may want to feel like they have control over there body, or maybe they are just fun. Also if something is really meaningful to you do you really have to tattoo it on your body? Or is it just an excuse to get inked? As for me tattooing is very spiritual, creating on somebody's body that will stay on them until they die, working with there flesh and blood. There can be more to the experience of getting a tat than the image that is produced.
I don't know. To each his own.
If you care to much about getting a tat you probably shouldn't get one, I don't believe in worshiping your body, decorating it for vanity.
Some people come into the shop and say they want a tat but they don't know what they want.
It's like they want one because a friend talked them into getting one(why would any one talk someone into getting a tattoo?) or it's like society or pop culture has talked them into getting one.
Culture is weird.
