I did it one year. i was in like 6th grade, every trip we went on was rainy, and we always got lost or some shit.
i quit because i was sick of the ranking bullshit and badges, and the paperwork you had to do to get one. i was new to it that year and on the trips i couldnt do jack because the other kids were like "ooohhh you dont have your match lighting/pocket knife certification, you cant use them then." i just got fed up with all the official bullshit.
now i wish i could go camping and do more outdoor stuff, because i am really interested in that stuff now and appreciate it a lot more.
I asked my dad if I could join the boh scouts when i was little and he told me he could teach me far more about the outdoors than they ever could and he has. Did I miss anything by not joining the boy scouts and learning from my dad?
