Why did Obama turn down the Keystone Pipeline, which would have created 20,000+ jobs for our country. We don't need more roads, or more bridges, which Obama keeps pushing for in order to create jobs (extremely short term). The Keystone Pipeline would be an EXTREMELY huge project that would create long terms jobs, even after the construction is completed and would also improve the oil situation are country is currently in.
Obama said something like 75% of the oil used in our country this past year came from within our borders? Wrong, that was a lie. 42% of the oil used in our country was taken from our country. About 58% was taken from Canada, South America, and the Middle East. The way he worded that statement made people believe that we were getting rid of our dependence on the Middle East...yet all we are doing is shifting our dependence further more onto Canada and South America.
As for taxing the rich, I'm perfectly fine with that. The more money you make the more you should give back to help the country you live in. But there are ways for the rich to create money without seeing a heavy tax, such as investments and the stock market, where the only possibility of reduction on their return lies within the commission taken from their investment company. People need to realize that!!!!
And finally Obama's biggest flaw, and what should be the main reason for him to lose this upcoming election (which unfortunately I do not see happening) is his view on the United States spending and the current state of our economy. WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO SPEND ANY MORE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are already so far into debt that our generation (gen Y and beyond) is going to be paying taxes out our Ass for the rest of our lives because of the debt this presidency has cemented. Him saying we need to pump money into social security and our military is complete horse shit. We have the strongest, most advanced, and most respected military in the world. We killed Osama (which he is taking FULL credit for) and are allies to more nations throughout the world then I can remember. People need to work hard in this world, Social Security is important and there are flaws that needed to be addressed, but I believe you need to work your ass off to secure your future....its the American Way. And he has not displayed any direction in regards to how he intends on fixing these major flaws to a very important system within our country. All I know is dumping more money that we don't have into the flawed Social Security system isn't the way to go.
Obama stated the unemplyment rate is getting lower by the month, and I forgot the percentage he stated. But what he "FORGOT" to include was all of the people who have stopped looking for emplyment and are no longer capable of receiving unemplyment, they have simply given up on finding a job because its that bad out there these days. Secondly, the amount of people UNDERemplyed in today's country is striking. If all these people were included within the actual TRUE unemplyment rate, our country's rate would exceed 18%.....pathetic and extremely scary.
I consider myself blessed for having a job in this economy. But I do not want to grow up, start a family, and buy a home until to see the Hammer of this campaign lay me out with taxes. The United States needs to STOP SPENDING, we can't afford to. And its a major issue that we will have to deal with for our entire lifetime.
This upcoming election in 2012 is monumental for our generation, I hope everyone knows what is at stake and I hope everyone takes pride in who they vote for, its our responsibility to.
Solid response but unfortunately as great as this all sounds its all wrong, our country was built on a system. For as long as all of us on this forum will be alive for....a system will be in place. The environment is important I agree, but this pipeline won't be ruining all of it and the pipeline won't be only going through rural areas. The pipeline is fucked because we have a democrat at the helm and its only a matter of time until you see I'm right.
The fact that you think tax brackets is the only thing that seperates Democrats from Republicans is hilarious. Yes, if you are SUPER wealthy you can afford to send your money to off shore accounts, but by no means is a single digit millionaire considered super wealthy in our country. And they should see a substantial tax rate from our country. Our economy is God awful, there is no way around "not having a job, or jobs not mattering" because they always will. And a majority of people making money will always care about the direction in which our country is driven. Your response is ignorant. The system is currently shattered I will agree, but as history proves, we can and will rebuild. Our generation is next in line to make a difference. Without a system there comes anarchy.
There will always be a 1%, whether they be hedge fund babies or self made millionaires, they will be there so there's no reason to dwell on them. We need to regulate spending in order to recover as a country. Once we regulate our spending and the public regulates all of the debt they have on the housing market (once the housing market bottoms out), we can start to rebuild our economy. Until, its going to be a treacherous up hill battle.
