Helmets on a skateboard make you look like a dweeb but I rock the fuck outta mine. When I was 14 I was trying to backside flip this eleven set and I only spun 90 degrees landed on the board but immediately just got thrown back by my momentum didn't even have enough time to try and put my hands down. my skull hit the ground so hard on the video it sounds like someone hit a tennis ball. I was knocked unconscious had some major convulsions then the ambulance showed up I was in n out of consciousness. Basically I don't remember any of it like not even before the trick the only reason I do is because of the footage which is in a lost tape somewhere in my parents house. But basically I had a cracked skull some brain swelling which thankfully mellowed out relatively soon after the accident. If I hit my cranium again the likelihood of me coming out as well as I did is really really really unlikely. I'll probably die or be a vegetable like most people who get a good whack to the dome. I now wear a helmet when riding my skateboard my snowboard and even my bike. Yeah it may look stupid but I'd rather look like a goof and have my skating/snowboard skills speak for themselves than hit my head and die or worse be a vegetable unable to take care of myself without support of friends and family. Wear your helmet.

me too, cracked my skull and major concussion at 14. same situation with in and out of consciousness throughout the ambulance. i was skating pool though.
