To all you ACL survivors

So this past summer I tore my ACL and had surgery in mid July, and come mid January when I head back to school in Colorado, I've gotten the OK to start skiing again. I've got a custom CTI brace on the way in which I will get before I start skiing. I am not looking to push coming back to skiing in a way to get hurt my knee again, cause those six months fucking blew, but at the same time I dont know how long I will be satisfied with taking it super easy either. Plus, it is shaping up to be a super dry year out there in CO and I would like to start skiing some park soon, even it is just rails. I just wanted to hear the stories and opinions of other ACL survivors when getting back into skiing, because sometimes the doctor can be overly cautious. My surgery went well and I have been diligent about PT also. Just want to know how fast I should be getting back into skiing normally and possibly skiing some park.

***Also, I know some of you are going to tell me searchbar because plenty of people on this site have had this surgery, but I wanted to here some opinions given my situation. Thanks for your help.

The most important thing is to build up your quads and hams to give your knee extra stability. I tore my ACL in March but somehow didn't even notice it until May and had surgery in mid June.
I recovered pretty quick and started skiing in mid Oktober. Nothing big, just some groomed runs to get a feeling what i could do. in early November I started skiing some park for the first time and my knee held up pretty well. Now 6 months after surgery I am skiing pow as hard as i did last season, but in park I avoid big jumps.

After and during the strengthening of your quads and whole legs, make sure you train balance and propioception of your legs, it is as important as strenght. Do fast sprints slaloming through cones, work with balance balls and balance boards, etc. Your legs reaction speed is even more important than strength.
Also work your flexibility. For this yoga is the best.

Thanks for the tip. So I will be getting back to skiing at the six month point already, so i could probably do rails and smaller jumps after ive been back on skis for a little while and as long as i felt comfortable with my knee and quad strength?
