QUIT SMOKING DRO!!!!

But honestly, I just decided to quit smoking, and not bagging on those who still do, but I have never felt so clear headed in my life, Im doing more instead of just chillen and doing nothing. Plus I have gotten clean cut and feel like Im getting more girls. Weed=fun, while sober= more accomplishments!

what do you guys think? One love!

I've cut back since I'm home for the holidays with my family. But I got a 3.425 GPA in college while toking often during finals week.

I wonder that too.

But the reality is that a lot of people in the industry partake in that kind of thing, and it's not a big deal at all. Plus, many people on here (at least in media & arts) know that I am young, only 19, and also in college. So it shouldn't really come as a surprise. I'm also not representing anybody in particular right now aside from myself, so it seems more okay to me. If I were clearly representing a particular company, things would be different. Some people do drugs in the ski community, and if some kids can't accept that (whether they agree with it or not), then idk maybe they're on the wrong site and doing the wrong sport.

There's a crucial difference between accepting it and agreeing with it. I'm well aware that there are plenty of sober kids on this site and that's awesome and I respect that a lot. I don't feel in any way that they should have to agree with drugs just to be on NS (because that would be ridiculous). However, they need to understand that other people might like drugs, and it's not a big deal, and that drug use is very common in the ski community. If they're going to get bent out of shape because an orange name mentioned doing drugs, then yeah, maybe this isn't really the place for them. Because drugs are discussed pretty frequently on here, so they would be constantly offended.

And if an orange name talking about drugs on a forum somehow influences kids into trying them, then they would have definitely tried them anyway.

Pro-drug use or not, I think that's just a wrong thing to say. I don't think freeskiing was founded on weed.

No, it's not the bent out of shape stuff I'm worried about, it's the influence. You know that, known or not, kids or teendults on this site look up to orange names... That's all I'm saying, not that you're literally advocating anything (which you've done).

But weed is DEFINITELY NOT a decisive part of the skiing culture, no more or less than booze, sex or powder.

I am a headcase. In all the sports i have ever played i played the traditional "captain position" and always had to think as well as play the game. for some, thinking and playing are not mutually exclusive. for me they are. i played much better when all i had to do was purely react and be an athlete. there is a quote by Mik D in "Like A Lion" that sums me up pretty well; it goes something like "thinking is no good. it goes up to the head and fucks with the rest of the body".

the only times i smoke are when i have nothing to do at night and plan on watching a movie and going to sleep, or when i am skiing.

i smoke a lot when i ski. like an 1/8th to myself per day(when i am at home i just take 3-4 tokes and chill). Smoking allows me to not think and just ski. i am so much smoother, more aggressive, and overall much more confident when i smoke. It has never affected my coordination or balance, or my strength, and i actually have a really clear, focused head.


I hate drinking and skiing cause i just feel like shit, and my coordination is off, but smoking and skiing on a pow day is just as good as good sex for me.

but to each their own. i say as long as you arent hurting anybody, do whatever gets your rocks off.

As I said, if I somehow influence a kid to try smoking, they were bound to try it anyway, because my amount of influence, especially given that i am only a filmer, is minimal compared to that of pros who are smoking in edits and such.

part of the reason why i'm not shy about my drug use is that i'm proud of it in a way. i go to a good school, get good grades, work hard, and have become a decently successful filmer. i think the fact that i'm supposed to be ashamed of my drug use despite all that is absurd. and so i like to show that there are people who use drugs who still are motivated to work and achieve goals. and hopefully i can maybe change the minds of some people out there; not to do drugs, but that we're not all lazy fuckers that sit around all day and do nothing.

on another pretty much completely unrelated note, my cousin goes to loyola.


anyway, i never smoked that much because its pricey. to me the money spent to fun had ratio isn't worth it. that being said, there is something undeniably chill about just smoking with some friends. i will also smoke at/before parties. i definitely don't have anything against it.

That's great, I probably smoke 3-4 times a week, and I feel much better than when I was smoking several times a day, everyday.

On a side note, I hate when I see a "Quitting Smoking" thread, and you go into it and see that it's about weed. This may not make sense to someone who solely smokes weed, but it probably does for cigarette smokers. For weed it's not so much quitting as it is just stopping. It's not a struggle, I mean sure, maybe you'd like to get high, but if it's really difficult then you must live a boring life. Do something else. Quitting cigs is a real struggle. But I can proudly say, that I've got 12 cig free days. /rant

This^

My first winter of burning I would be afraid of an jump bigger than 10 feet while stoned. Scariest feeling. This year I smoke a lot more and am way more controlled. I had never done a 270 out of anything before and landed 3 360 in my life, this week being the first week my mountains open , I've both of these things spinning both ways. I'm pretty stoked.

it's been said before but i'll say it again. moderation. i probably only buy a gram a month, maybe a bit more. granted when i do, its pretty dank. i proceed to slowly use it over that month or 3 weeks. if i don't share and just do it alone, i can stretch it even further. i only really smoke if i've got nothing to do that i want to be able to concentrate on later, or if other people are doing it i'm with. all about the moderation. my lungs will probably always be fine, and my thinking isn't affected whatsoever.
