Just wanted to get the word out on a few changes at Schuss this winter.
The first is the location of the Half Pipe. We moved it from its former location on Mellow Yellow to the newly enlarged Elf Shelf (above Ivans). This move opened up Mellow Yellow for ski school and beginner riders alike. I hope to have a couple small features set up on the side of Mellow Yellow at some point after things get rolling. The Elf Shelf area was enlarged and regraded to allow for a 250' long, standard sized half-pipe. The new location will allow for great visibality from Ivans, better lighting, and will be hiker friendly. Watch the action from the deck or from the firepit.
Up on the Purple Lift area terrain park area users will notice the biggest changes. First off, the entrance to all 3 terrain park areas will be located at the top of the Purple Lift, on an area we enlarged at the top of the old Purple Daze Park area. We removed the trees above the terrain park shack and fire pit area allowing Village Way to be a top to bottom park run. Village Way is where I suspect the larger jumps ( with a line of 3 for sure) will be located this winter ( it has a more continous pitch now, and no lift towers in the way).. Both parks will benefit from from the addition of 150' feet of new steel rails. On tap are a 35' battleship t-box, 40' Rollercoaster- can be broken into multiple pieces, 3 C-boxes, 20' picnic table, and a 10' helix that we can use to connect 2 of the c boxes to create a s-box. These are on property now, awaiting final legal mumbo jumbo. I also hope to pick up another propane tank or two to complement our 2 we already have.
Natty Park is our park in the trees between Village Way and Purple Daze. It is in the final stages of a complete makeover this summer. We removed dead and strugling trees to open the whole area up, which allowed us to set up 7 or 8 all natural wooden rails, jibs, and drops. As soon as we get enough natural snow, this area will be a real change to what your typical terrain park is.
The Summit Mountain Terrain Park will once again run top-to-bottom on Helms Gate. It will benefit from all the new steel at Schuss as we move a few rails to the Summit.
Make sure to stop by the firepit, just below the terrain park shack at Schuss... We cut and split tons of wood this summer, and we always enjoy a nice fire. Someone is on duty 99% of the time in the park, stop by with your suggestions, we love ideas and try our best to make things as fun and safe as we possibly can. I plan on having a few things set up on opening weekend whenever that may be.
Be sure to check out the 2 new trails in the Red lift area...Salsa and Red Fox. There are a few other suprises out there two, if you get looking around!
Think Cold and we can make the snow!
Have a great winter
