Switch into pipe

Nothing along the lines of what im looking for showed up upon search, sorry if its a little vague.

yo, I just started trying pipe 2 weeks ago (or 2 ski days ago) and Im really having a lot of fun with it, Im pretty confident on takeoffs and re-entry and want to step it up a bit. Anyway, I wanted to try dropping in switch/ switch take offs tommorow. My problem is im not sure how to handle that much steepness while riding switch. Anyway, im looking for some tips from people with experience.



For reference, our pipe has about 15ft walls and is cut quite often so slush on the walls or in the base is pretty rare.

When I do switch drop ins, I usually start on the left wall (which would be my normal drop in wall) and drop in with a left side 90ish degree entry (obviously it's not exactly 90, basically aim for your normal angle of entry, just tails first). I'm looking over my right shoulder at that point so depending on my plan on the next wall I either focus on the next wall over my right shoulder (this is my normal plan to do a switch right "180" leading into the next wall) or switch shoulders in the flat bottom to do a switch left spin.

As far as speed, you just gotta do for it, you're not going to be hustling too much on a 15ft wall (especially since dropping in switch puts you lower on the wall usually). Just keep your weight centered and lean in and out of the wall as you normally would going forward to keep up speed (i.e. pump) and pop the same...just switch.

get loooooooow. if you stand up, most people tend to try to stay upright and end up smashing their backs into the wall. bend those knees and just ride with it.

if you go for the just try it method i bet you dont fall more than 3 times before u can do it flawlessly

just ski up on the same drop in angle you usually would and pop a little 180 dont try to ride in switch and dont be afraid to just put your boots right on the steepest part of the wall thanks to sceience and all that it will work out for you

Make sure your boots are not really soft! then you might have problems with overflexing from the transition.

But I would recommend just riding up the wall slow try and get half way up and the go back down switch with you knees bent and legs staggered and slowly work your speed up when you get the tranny riding down, then start to work on airing out with sw 3's. Hope thats helpful!

thanks, Ill try that again next week I guess. I tried some stuff out today but I was only in the pipe for 2 runs until I went home (heavy rain). thanks for the tips jossi, your the best.
