It makes it a lot simpler of a process if you want to use Windows as primary though. Even if you do partition (which I have done for Super Ubuntu) the GUI installer isn't difficult at all. Wubi just allows you to get familiar with Linux without having to risk ruining your Windows installation if you don't know what you're doing. And if you don't like it, just uninstall it and you won't have to resize the Windows partition AGAIN. I'm all for it and wouldn't necessarily consider it a noob tool. Just depends on what you're going to be using Linux for
