I'm thinking of heading over to maui for the winter (i live in NZ) to do some kiteboarding, as im 18 i want to be doing it on the cheap. Was just wondering if anyone on this site has gone there before and tried to live for about 4months cheaply and if the have any tips, i live in Chch NZ and after the earthqauke we had this place doesn't have alot to offer anymore. Main questions would be where are the good freestyle spots and names of backpackers close to them, i know this is a ski site so i may be asking the wrong people, just thought it was worth a try.
NAhh they the same size, just that i didn't have any speed at all so i had to do anything to get speed... but at the bottem of every run i pull down the pants... -E-DOLLO.

Ive had car insurance since I was 16. But you want to live cheap and you want a car?! Better off makin' buddies. Buying food in bulk will be hard there as well, in a place where the majority of product is shipped in, even bulk prices are heavy. Go to a costco, buy a TON; to be honest Ive only been to Kona + Mauii but I don't even know if either has a bulk food store anywhere on the island.
maui is the best! you'll fall in love and never want to leave....i go every winter no matter what. i dont know much about kiteboarding but honolua is amazing for surfing and hookipa is for all the gnarly windsurfers and such. ive seen a bunch of kiteboarding places in kahului, which is the big town but im pretty sure anywhere on the island you're good to go. have fun! im jealous
I'd like to think of quantitys as being universal? It's straight up expensive there. You are from an island nation, maybr you have more of an idea of the harsh prices than I - but I can tell you for certain that you have much, much cheaper alternatives.
