So i've just took up skiing again after 3 years. I decided to take up snowboarding for a few years and now i'm board with it. I could hit the big park jumps on my snowboard but i tried one on skis and just failed completely. i couldnt keep my balance in the air. I have no problem skiing on the slop and pow but i just need some advice on how to hit these jumps.
when you go off the lip make sure you are in the middle of your skiis and not leaning side to side, put your feet about sholder with apart and leen a little bit forward (the steeper the lip the more you lean)
Your problem is is not uncommon at all. I have a few friends that switched to skiing this year from riding. They complained of the same thing. My suggestion would be to practice on small jumps, natural features, small drops, and safety grab everything. Safety grabbing will give you a reason to tuck your legs, get your arms forward, and something to think about in the air. A few days of that and you should be able to safety grab the bigger park jumps.
