who cares. the truth hurts. why lie to a person saying they will do good in life and they get C's in school.

lets face it, the truth of the matter is that getting a B or a B+ in a class isnt that hard. just put in an hour of work every day and their you go, you got your B. not that hard. C's anyone can get. you pretty much just have to pass the quiz's and tests to get a C. no decent college or university will accept you unless you have at least a B.

I dunno about that statement being entirely true.

I have a few friends who have some SERIOUS learning disabilities and they work their asses off just to scrape a C or a C+ out of a class.

But for most of us, yeah, B's and B+'s aren't really that hard to get. Nor are A's as long as you put your mind to it.

I will be honest. I get stoked when I get a C or a C+. Even more stoked when I get a B. I'd be thankful to just have passing grades.

that is a totally different story. if a person isnt trying and still getting C's, then yeah, i understand the parents standing. but if a person have learning disabilities and that person is working their ass off to try and get the best mark they can. then the the situation would be different. at least that person was trying and not dicking around like other kids who still end up with C's.

You're right... I completely agree with you. My education, and what I get out of it, is my top priority. However, these are his college grades we're talking about, so the situation is a little bit different. Also, he has made clear he is "going to casper college for their basketball program," obviously the priorities lay elsewhere then his education. So, while I think education is one of the most important things and I look forward to the day I receive my PhD, why should I besmirch this man because he values something other than education?

why is that?

i go to a new england prep school with much harder academics than a local public school yet it's such a fucking awful and competitive academic environment that everyone strives to push themselves as hard as possible. i feel like in the public school system there's not nearly as much competition and hard charging assholes trying to get ahead of each other so people back off a little and it's easier to let grades slack because everyone accepts that there are more important things in life

Schools to offer an early release program enabling you to finish up a class or 2 during the summer so you don't have as many classes as you do when school during the winter rolls around. I have a lot of buds who do that. I see them all the time when I am up shredding at like 10am.

Huh? I'm confused. Sadly, the public high school I went to, I believe, had too few graduation requirements, so it was possible to load up with free periods and get yourself... wait for it.... early release days!

It does.

But there are some good aspects to it too.

I still get to kick it with girls, its just not as much fun at school not having them around in class.

annddd, our school is kind of like a family where everyone is super close with one and other, so I know that my friends have my back no matter what, and they know that I've got theirs.


Other than that, I fucking hate it.

seeing as your parents probably pay for your skiing, as well as your gear, as well as probably drive your twelve year old ass to the mountain, I don't see why you're complaining. Get a job, get a car, then you can ski regardless of your grades. And if they still say no, make them into chili and eat them.

Colleges have a general idea of the rankings of each highschool and what their grading system is relative to one another, so it ultimately works out. Or at least as well as possible.. I wouldn't hold your breath for a standardized system anytime soon.

A C average and getting into a good school in a program that isn't some shitty arts degree? Nope, don't think so.

Even if you're going to argue that 1 or 2 C isn't going to hurt you that much, you literally have to be handicapped to not to be able to get B's and A's. Not trying to hate with that comment, just telling it like it is.

if you get straight D's and C's in high school you CANT go wherever you want.. try applying to some of the major schools with C's and D's and see what happens. Im not saying that you cant be successful but it makes it a hell of a lot harder with bad grades in HS

it's pretty much the truth.

if you do well in one semester of community college, you will be able to transfer into just about any college.

sure you probably won't be getting into any ivy league schools; but, any state school is open game.
