^No disrespect, but it's funny (maybe ironic) since the USA Today (as compared to the NY TImes or the Wall Street Journal) is written at the level of a 5th grader...it's science. However, it's better than not reading anything at all - I just found it comical.
A lot of things in the mass communication field are written at the level of a 5th grader. Clarity is one of the most important things when writing for newspapers or magazines since the people that read it vary so greatly in education.
Granted, the WSJ and Times are directed toward a more educated audience, all newswriting is still written for clarity.
Something like Popular Science Magazine may be a different story.
