apparently theyre fucking with anyone who is against wikileaks or trying to shut it down

they shut down mastercards website, the bank that froze assanges accounts

took over paypals blog, and now are supposed to be going after visa and amazon


and they are creating thousands of mirror websites of wikileaks so that if it gets shut down the leaks will continue


moral of the story is dont fuck with 4chan

Here's one thing I don't understand - I could make that image and post it somewhere. I realize I couldn't pull of posting it on 4chan, as I'm not a member at all, and that would be obvious. But either way, my question is really how do people know what's legit Anonymous, and what's not? I mean, that image itself talks about how some people do all the work, and everyone else on 4chan sits back and laughs. But How do we know that anything is officially from the people that actually know their shit and are actually doing the big stuff?

for once 4chan is actually doing something somewhat useful. its the job of the media to go after this kind of thing. and once somebody on the inside has leaked it its fair game to be published. some stuff has been held back so as not to expose sources etc but most of this stuff is what journalism is supposed to be: asking tough questions.
a wholllle lot of govt officials are getting verrrrry nervous because there seems to be some shit in there that exposes a lot of half truths and spin surrounding various world events. so in this case: go 4chan! fuck their shit up!

LOL at the guy who thinks that the government can just "shut 4chan down." They've tried before, and it ALWAYS comes back. Also, to the people who are freaking out about anon getting your IP, it's not like they're sitting there waiting to hack your shit. They really don't give a fuck about you. i think it pings the site repeatedly so if enough do it it slows it down and can crash it just like LOIC but not as good

Once you get the hang of it and understand its layout, Its very easy to use. I find it much more easier than other forum layouts. Even other forums have used similar formats of layout like 4chans.

But I believe it will then ping the Master card website causing a DDOS

This is basically known as a ping flood or smurf attack using your computers to overload the mastercards system and make them either reboot or move so slowly that they are rendered no functional

overall it is known as an ICMP flood

I am kind of interested in a peer-peer attack though, just started reading up on it and don't really understand DC++

It's all under the umbrella of DDoS attacks, but yes. What you are doing from command prompt in that situation is essentially what LOIC does, though to a lesser degree, and much safer because the volume is lower. The intent is to use it en masse to crash a server.

The thing about LOIC is that you can surrender your computer to someone else using LOIC so they can use large numbers of computers for precise attacks. By doing this you can say that your computer was part of a Bot Net and that you were unaware your computer was part of any attacks should you get into trouble.

That's going to be the defense. The idea was that so many computers were used, that no one person is accountable, and the volume of packets sent from each was not enough to be considered harmful.
