I was goin though the Newschool skiing page on wikipedia today, and I realized that there are some articles that should be made and stories that are worth being told. I think we should make a list of the cool things we remember, dredge them up, have people contribute what they remember, and record it. Topics I can think of are:

FARP

I Hate NY Productions

The Huntony grab

The D-spin

Doo Rags

Lateralis

The PPP



One we get a good list, I'll start a thread on each and everyone add what they know. Could be kinda fun, who remembers FARP anyways? Shits newschool skiings essence, like a pure distill.

History

"New school" skiing originated in the mid-19th century in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. Count Iosif Vladimirovich Romeyko-Gurko, a general for the Russian Empire in the war is known as the father of "New School" skiing. Upon a recent victory of capturing the Danube, he found a derelict ammunition sleigh and proceeded to fabricate a pair of skis from the runners. He crafted the bindings out of his mustache hairs and proceeded to "jib" part of the old sleigh. This was the first recorded instance of "New School" skiing

Count Iosif Vladimirovich Romeyko-Gurko, a general for the Russian Empire in the war is known as the father of "New School" skiing. Upon a recent victory of capturing the Danube, he found a derelict ammunition sleigh and proceeded to fabricate a pair of skis from the runners. He crafted the bindings out of his mustache hairs and proceeded to "jib" part of the old sleigh. This was the first recorded instance of "New School" skiing. In the 1990s when freestyle skiers, discouraged by restrictive laws placed on the sport by the International Ski Federation , began trying their tricks in what were at the time snowboard-only terrain parks. Early newschool skiers were very aware of the developing style and attitude of snowboarding, and created their own style. This snowboarding attitude originally came from skiers in the 80's and earlier on. Newschool skiing was present in the 70's, but it wasn't every anything big, just guys trying to have fun. Tom wallisch was the sole individual responsible for a rapid resurgence of interest in the newschool skiing. After years of studying Iosif's literature, he was able to master the sleigh jib and in turn enlightened the people with a video edit (FARP Productions 2004). The time period between Count Iosif's death, and tom Wallisch's super unknown video, is known as the "dark ages" because little is known about newschool skiing during this time.[1]

Travis heed could have an entire documentary about that 1 shot, entitled "The Man Who Sleeps on Rails." The first time i saw it i thought it had to be fake just because he doesnt even look like he's moving, and if he is, doesnt care at all.

there is a lot of stuff that could be added. The whole chad's gap saga, purely because absolutely no one one this site ever imagined what would happen with that.

hell, even just the actual story of ns itself is good.

I just think weather it's new or not people outside of NS should know the big events, and I thought that seems pretty big. Then again I've only been here for a little over 2 years.
