No inverts?

 so at my local mountain in upstate New York your not allowed at all to do inverts. the ski patrol will go as far as taking your seasons pass and not refunding the money. the think that doesn't make sense though is that on the warning sign in the park it says ski at your own risk and doesn't say no inverts. Is it a new york state law or is the ski patrol at my mountain just being a bitch?

at my home mountain they would be dicks about fron flips and back flips but when we did cork or rodeo we jsut said its just an off axis spin. were not going inverted.

its not a new york thing its a insurance thing. west in ny does not allow straight inverts. but whiteface and gore do.

no thats the part thats fucked up. i also heard there not allowed to take your pass because the ski patrol is a privite company and not part of the mountain.but they still do. like last year 3 kids got the 550 dollar season passes taken away for going to fast down a green hill.

hmm...

Well I dont really know much about legal jargon and all but I dont think theyre allowed to do that. But Im pretty sure its not like the law or anything, its more of an insurance issue.

I don't see how someone sees corks as so much safer than a backflip. More people fuck themselves up trying corks for the first time than landing on their heads trying backflips.

If ski patrol tries to take your pass just be like "No" WTF are they gona do follow you around? Maybe one of them will hit you and then just sue the shit out of them.

wow, sometimes im happy that im in europe. we may not have the sickest terrain parks, but you can ski where ever how ever you want. no out of bounds or no inverts.

in how many terrain parks in the US is it like that? because im planning on doing a road trip through north america, but i only ski out of bounds or park. and not doing front flips or back flips would blow.

At my mountain you can flip but in contest you cant do a straight backflip or frontlip you have to throw another rotation in. I think you can lincoln im not sure its stupid.

I get the idea behind no fronts or backflips. if you mess up a backflip, you're coming down pretty much on your head. With a cork if you don't commit youre coming down on your side.

And complaining about it won't do a thing. It's the insurance companies, not the ski patrollers trying to limit your fun.

thats a dumb idea. I'm on ski patrol at Sugarloaf and its never happened to me before (because I HATE pulling peoples passes), but I know that some patrollers have had mountain security meet people at the bottom and escort them off the property for not following the rules

at nashoba valley (that is not my home mountain i have just skied there before) they say no inverts but I know the ski patrol there and they all do flips so it does'nt matter there. putting a sighn up saying that you arnt alowed to do flips is purley for insurence purposes.

It's all about liability. In our case, we used to ban inverts, but last season we changed our policy. Our insurance company said in order to ban them we would have to patrol every single jump. This means someone standing and watching, every jump, at all times. Obviously that wasn't going to happen so now we allow them and everyone's happy. These policies obviously differ from company to company, but I'm glad ours sees it this way. Dealing with insurance companies and resort liabilities is such a mess...

im so glad i know all the patrollers at my mountain,there chill as fuck, sometimes after the resort closes i go down to the ski patrol building and have a beer or two with them

It's Illegal in the state of Vermont to go inverted but we have the dew tour here and the xgames way back it's also illegal to ride the lift with the bar up but both of those rules are not enforced and if they are it's with a warning pretty much

At my local mountain there pretty chill with inverts but considering the fact that our biggest jump is like 5 feet not many people go to big.

If you are at a smaller resort try to get to know the patrollers there. Just talking to them a little bit throughout the season can make a big difference in wheather your pass is getting pulled or you riding away. If you get to know the patrollers and show them your ability level, they probably won't have a problem with you throwing the odd front or back. Just try not to do it that often because it usually is a liability issue and if kids see you and hurt themselves trying, you will be shut down.

my home mountain is the same even though they have the ski at your own risk signs and liability messages on the back of there pass they can still get sued so they limit the risk by banning inverts

the only patroller at bristol that cares about the invert policy is that one douche with the santa claus beard. most of the other patrollers are reasonable and nice people. its just that guy whos a dick. even the other patrollers admit hes a hardass. he pulled sirfrancisbapes pass for like 2 seasons for doing a somersault, not even a frontflip.

They are patrolers too busy being the "put your bar down" Nazi's and the yellow jackets (90% of them) are too busy just being douche bags elsewhere.
I love when they go in the park though and bitch at park rats for completely fine shit while they can be bitching at gapers for sitting on landings and acting stupid. Gahhh.
Their yellow jackets really piss me off.

yeah Europe does not give a fuck. Park crew will open up a 60 foot jump first thing in the morning and then close it up at the end of the day. no supervision, no park passes...if some one were to wreck themselves on it then that's ski patrols problem. got to love it

at my home mountain about 5 years ago, two of my mates got chased all the way down the mountain and into the carpark by ski patrol from the terrain park after doing backflips, then they got to their car jumped in and took off still in their ski boots, pretty funny
