Vail Resorts Track and Record Skier and Snowboarder Whereabouts in Company Databases
Saw this article in the Denver Post this morning and thought I would share.
Spark notes: Every time your RF pass gets scanned Vail resorts now keeps and stores the data
"You put on your boots, click into your bindings, dust the snow off your skis, and head out for the chair, and it doesn't matter that you failed a test, didn't get the girl, or that your life is on a one way trip down the shitter, your world is right for the next couple of hours."-Jeremy Bloom
yea, just like every time you scan your safeway or city market value card..they keep track of what you buy and at which store..big whoop welcome to the 21st century..
that's why RFID chips suck.

Really who cares that Vail knows how many times I ride each lift? It's not like they know where you are at all times, just when you get on the lift. I think it's kind of cool, see how much vert I can rack up in a day. Everybody publishes half their life on facebook and they can't handle this?
Yawn, who wouldn't have guessed that any way.

didnt they do this last year?
My friend Afterbanged so hard, he broke both legs, his hip, 4 ribs, caused an avalanche, and killed everyone within a 100mile radius of the 'bang.
But it was still not 'too much' bang.

The people that should be pissed are the employees who scan tickets...
THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!!!!
Didn't make opening day at Breck today, but noticed some new fences at Keystone- the idea is for you to enter each run where they have an RF reader to track which runs you are skiing...its not working yet, but the Epic Mix is suppose to allow you to sign in and see where and how much you skied each day...They say they will also have a mobile ap that will allow you to see where your friends are on the mountain.
