Ive had my spy blizzards for 3 or 4 years and theyre starting to get old and scratched up so im looking for some new ones.

My main options are...

Smith I/O, crowbars, splice's, eg2's and dragon rogue's

Im also getting a new helmet and its most likely going to be the smith maze so the I/O's would obviously be a good choice in terms of fit.

Price is a factor, im looking for something i can get a good deal on.

i have splices, they kick ass, i/o's dont fit my face and neither do EG2's but splices are perfect for me

So far I've had/tried
-Crowbars: had these for a long time and i love em to death only issues are the nose pinch and that they stick out a lot

-I/Os: Just got these (since they were too sweet a deal on tramdock) and they fit my face super nice, really easy lens changing fit great with all my helmets, no problems so far

-EG.2: Tried these out for a day and almost bought em had i not got the deal on the I/O, best range of view ever I could see everything, pretty low profile considering the size and they were still really comfy, only problem is that they fog when hiking

Used all of these with my Giro Shiv rocking strap underneath

Perfect, it looks like this thread will help a few people out, not just me.

As for the advice i need im just looking at these goggles in terms of fogging and all that good stuff

I had crowbars and a smith maze for the second half of last season and they actually worked pretty well (goggle strap under the helmet) when i took all the additional padding inside out. There was a moderately sized goggle-helmet gap but it was alright, that part of my head didn't really get cold much anyways. Crowbars are really comfy, and stay in the same place on your head, etc. The only thing i really disliked was how far they stick out. I just bought I/O's though cause I got a sick deal on B/S/T, can't wait to find out how those work out.

i just got some smith I/O's but i really dont like them that much for what a paid for them.. so i would say go for some crowbars or splices like i will be going after.. but if you still want some I/O's i have mine for sale... pm me if intrested

Eg2's if you like em big, 2.5's if you like them not stupid big. Sure the lenses fog up a little more than most but they fit great and look even better. Just hang them around your neck when you're hiking and that's that

i have a smaller face so I/O's fit me best. They fit close and don't pinch or pressure anything, peripheral vision is really good. Sometimes i even forget I'm wearing them. Lens changes are quick and easy, and I really like the different lens options Smith has. I hated crowbars, mainly because they were just a little too big for my face, so they pinched my nose and pressured my face, stuck out really far past my helmet. Changing lenses, which i do a lot, takes a while and isn't very user friendly compared to the I/O. Great lens choices and optics though and you can really customize them to your style. Because of the size differences, try to get somewhere to try them on before you buy, if not then try to figure out if you have a smaller or larger face. That will help in your decision a lot.

i wuv my murdered out splices. they fit really well and i like how they look with my helmet but they do stick out far if you don't wear a helmet, you'll look like a massive goofball.

just install the tramdock toolbar so you can see what deal they have at all times. and i'd say there would be a deal on crowbars or i/os every week or so. normally around $50 or $60

Very true about the crowbars sticking out a lot. I use them with a giro shiv and strap underneath also. if you have a bigger face go with the crowbars, that was kind of a mistake on my part since i have a small face.

ive had oakley wisdom's, spy soldier's, and now a pair of oakley crowbar's

the wisdoms suck, they dont fit well with basically any helmet

spy soldiers fit well, a little smaller than other goggles so they work great if you have a small or medium face and dont want goggles envelope your face

oakley crowbars. holy shit they fit amazing. everyone has said they fit basically any face and i was amazed at the comfort when i tried them on. saw they were 50% off at my local shop and didnt even care that i need to save my money. had to buy them.

I have and have had wisdoms for awhile and they fit perfectly fine with my helmet. I'm not sure what you guys are doing to them to make them not fit.

I would like a pair of crowbars though, a new lens is like 70 and crowbars are like 90 so I'll just get a new set.

the plastic swivel clip has changed over the years. it used to have a curve in it to make the strap closer to the head for comfort when it was worn with a hat. very helmet incompatible. i ended up buying a helmet kit which was just a new strap with straightened plastic pieces which allowed the goggle strap to fit perfectly fine over most helmets.

this was back in like 04/05 season. pretty sure they were changed shortly after

i LOVE my I/O.. they are amazing. they fit my face really well, and have an amazing field of view..however.. the lenses do scratch easy..probably my fault though.

splices>everything else. if you really dont want them though, at least get the cbars. next best goggle out there, oakley always has the best eyewear.

I have I/O's and they're awesome, lens changes are easy and they look pretty sweet! However I still wish I bought Crowbars even though they're probably not as good or convenient!

You cant, i was hoping to be able to try some on but after calling a bunch of shops and visiting t and l on greenbank ive come to the conclussion that they dont have them in ottawa.

Basically im down to wether i/o's are worht the extra money. You can get crowbars for cheap, i/o's on the other hand are a little more expensive usually.

I finally got to head up to some shops over the weekend and try some on. I have a medium sized face

Smith i/o: amazing. fit like a dream. comes with 2 lenses. super easy to switch between lenses. peripherals are wayyy better than crowbars and a bit better than splices

Splices: Better fitting crowbar. Little nose pinch. Okay peripherals. Pretty easy to switch out lense

Crowbars: (owned a pair for the last year) worst of the 3. pinches my nose. hard to change lense. worst peripherals

im definitely sold on the i/o's
