the show isnt about him surviving, (which he could easily do) its about him showing you how to survive in certain situations, which is why he has some of the situations set up.

yea the shows really shouldn't be compared. les is real survival, bear is worst case survival.

off TV though, bear is definitely more badass. Les is just some hippy who lived in the woods.

If you follow bear grylls example in the wilderness you probably won't make it out alive. If you follow the wise instructions of the mighty jedi master les stroud then you will march out of the wilderness into safety with a full stomach, some sweet harmonica jams, a sweet ass beard, high as fuck, and a whole tribe of natives on your side. Or you could give yourself an enema, drink from elephant shit, eat spiders, and drink your own piss. you decide.

regardless les stroud could survive longer in the wilderness of any local. Les Stroud is also the kind of guy you would want to go on a trip with. The last thing i want to do is find myself getting buck nasty in some animals shit with bear grylls.

The final point i have to make is that because les stroud spends his time alone in the wilderness he is more of a man than bear will ever be. I don't know how many of you have had to spend time alone in the middle of bum fuck nowhere, but that shit gets to you. Yea Bear Grylls may do some shocking things, but he has never slept alone in the open in polar bear country, he leaves that for the real men; one of which is Les Stroud.

you're stating all of this as fact, so you must know bear in person. what else about his personal life do you know?



i guarantee if you tried to have les cross the arctic, he would start out fine. 2 hours in he would bitch the whole time about how terrible it is, whine that he only has 10 matches and his gun, then piss his pants when he sees a seal
the dude can survive fine, but you put him through any of the shit bear has done outside of his show and he will hang himself before he comes out nearly as successful.

if you have the appropriate skills and temperment then go with bears way. it will be more fun

if you dont go with les stroud. he shows more economical and more practical ways of survival. bear is more entertaining but i learn more that i could use from les.


also will smith said bear is an asshole off camera....

Personally I think his tv series "Escape to the Legion" was fuckin great. Likely not the  most ridiculous thing he has done but it was awesome to watch, learned a lot too.

this happens every fucking thread. everything bear grylls does you could use to survive. but his show is more entertainment being on a big time tv network. who ever said something about not surviving with bear grylls is a fucking idiot.
it's a tv show. it is enjoyable to watch and it does its job.
les stroud may are may not be a better survivorman/badass but his show is boring as shit to watch.

and this guy is probably more bad ass then both of them.

i think it was the best thing I've seen him do on TV. no way les could do that one.

just the part where they do the test, and have to run up/down the massive sand dune for every wrong answer was insane. And you could tell even bear was having trouble with a lot of what they did.
