At no point in writing this post, or any other that I can recall, has it been my intention to in any way offend you. In a haze
A stormy haze
I’ll be around
I’ll be loving you
Here I am
And I’ll take my time
Here I am
And I’ll wait in line
Avid Free DV is the free one, Avid Xpress DV is the cheap DV only version and Avid Xpress Pro is the mainstream software only version plus you can get Avid mojo and some of the Digi Protools set up which all for uncompressed video and balance audio inputs. each copy you buy comes with a mac and windows version on cds
Adobe Premiere. Liek she said above, it is really complicated, but once you spend the time to learn wahts going on, it's well worth it. You can do soo much with it, the possibilites are endless. Everytime i sit down to edit, i end up learning something new about the program.
FCPro 4 is obvously the industry standard for macs, and I think it is safe to say the Avid Express is the professionel industry standard for PC, what I am woundering is which is better.

Premiere definetely - cant find a copy its easy enough using Kaza Lite or Hotline - make sure you get 6 or 6.5 there the only ones supported now for updates - also hit up your Chapters or local bookstore they have awesome books for beginers and pros for using Adobe Premiere, ive made several videos with it and its top notch.
i have premiere pro, but to get it to work you have to turn the windows calendar back to 2001 for some reason, its kinda complicated for me right now, vegas 4 seems to be decent, but i didnt mess around with it much, i mostly use pinnacle studio 9 with hollywood FX and flash though. all free by the way
I've tried both, and Premier pro runs 1000 times better, on lower specs then Avid which constantly crashes on my non-editing specific computer. Premier is very similar to FCP and has most of the functions. You can download the ISO of it off Overnet if you want the full version.
For Mac you have 3 choices: Final Cut Pro HD, Premier Pro, and Avid Express Pro. FCP HD is definatly the best of all them and has the best compression, effects, and runs the smoothest.
