Any one else find it funny that you had to go to a european website to find an American flag helmet though?

A little bit weird yes. Personally I think wearing a flag is tacky. Part of the Flag Code says:
The flag should not be used as "wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery",[1] or for covering a speaker's desk, draping a platform, or for any decoration in general (exception for coffins).
