Because every award that level 1 won should have gone to a more deserving crowd. I seriously hope the judges are joking. Let me go through this and state MY OPINION*

Best Jib Flick- NO! Stadaconé was amazing and based solely on the urban scene in Québec! WTF

Best Teaser- Wow, really. Just watch the What's in the fridge?, Come Find Us, Gunnie Season, or the other trailers. Mucho better

Best Cinematography- Yikes, a typical level one "all really plain shots of good skiers throwing down on good features because level 1 has the connections to get them." wins? Cinematography ≠ what the shots are of, thats best flick. Cinematography is about the composure of the shots, variety, editing, and other things. Level 1 has never excelled in this, their shots are very plain compared to others. Gunnie season, ALL IN, Out of the Shadows, and Punch Line all had better cinematography. I mad.

Best Male Skier- JF Houle or Logan I. Enough said.

no they dont, and i dont think anyone is arguing they are. it only came up cause i said it was silly for berman to get best cine when he has never even shot film, while other companies are busting their ass shooting film etc. thats all. like i said, it's just an opinion, and i think ive earned the right to speak my opinion by paying for god-only-knows how many movies since 2001. i enjoy l1p movies a lot, it's just that the cinematography has never ever been one of the reasons for that, it's more the riders etc that make their movies good IMO

A Cinematographer or DOP handles the camera work. Not putting together the film in ANY way. Thats editing. Thats the editor(s') job.

hence the TOTAL lack of cutting and organizing the pieces of film/video into a sequence.

On big movie projects there will be a guy running the Aperature of the camera, another running the focus ring, etc etc. These Grips all work under a DOP.

i still don't see, how that all being defined and said, that level 1 shouldn't have won. i feel like i need to rewatch it because all i can think of, are the amazing compure of their shots, the placement of the riders, the color balances, contrasts...

after watching the movie, i can positively say that this thread is completely retarded. while Standacone may have had a crazy urban scene, Eye Trip had some of the most innovative, creative, and all around awe-inspiring urban and park Ive ever seen. As for the cinematography, what the hell were you thinking? The angles captured the entire trick every time. Also, i could pick out more than a dozen shots that were worth buying the movie for more than just the skiing. Add the editing and visual effects to that and you'll see why it won best cinematography. As for best preformace, i dont really know what to say, Ahmet put down the best seg for years past and years to come and im glad that he was recognized for that. I would love to go on, but its late and this thread needs to be put to rest as overcritical and uncalled for.

it was at rest...for over 2 weeks. that is, until you decided to search for it on purpose just to spend 6 minutes to type out your opinion. every movie has shots or certain aspects worth buying for, hell, some reasons may even be the specific athletes. let it be.
