ok i have a question.
why are brands like SAGA LDC and FD so respected on this site?
i know they are sick super legit brands and i love them.
but why are they the 'cool' brands right now?
what makes them the shit over brands like orage oakley etc which also make mad gear.
I am with you guys and there is nothing like having a SAGA suit but whats the hype of those brands about when there are other dope brands?
I know this is a generalisation but i am just saying usually.

Well so you know i currently don't own any of those brands however I may buy a pair of the new FD pants and the reason is because they are sick but also because its a new company and i'd rather help a starting up company than one that is big and already established.

GSuit as well. Also, customer service with the smaller companies is a lot better than Oakley or a comparable company.

Big companies often put profit over originality or creativity. Small companies must push innovation and quality just to stay alive for the next season, but they get the freedom to make whatever they think a relatively small number of people would like.

well i think oakley and orage are both awesome companies, and the only thing wrong with them currently is that they have not released there stuff for the upcoming season. LDC, FD, SAGA have all released there stuff thats why you see all of there stuff in the threads right now.

yet smal companies never seem to produce tech gear(trew and a few euro brands being the exceptions), and imo, i would rather have a jacket that is going to function very well and keep me very warm/dry over some jacket that looks "cool"

Some small companies focus on truly tech gear, others dont. Its what you get with the shotgun spray of small indies out there, some put style over function. Larger brands are going to generally have a better blend of style and tech. World of outerwear isnt much different than other arenas.

btw i wasnt saying orage tc wasnt dope because i know it is but i just get the impression SAGA FD and LDC is more the 'ultimate' over orage,oakley and so on.

Well the reason there so popular is because the fit obviously its tall. People like to support the smaller company's instead of maybe a company like oakley where they have snowboard, ski,wakeboard, biking, skating, lifestyle, eyewear for football, hockey, lacrosse and so on. I personally enjoy supporting brands that stick to just skiing and mountain activities instead of big companies that invest in everything like nike, oakley, under armor. No doubt they can make great products but i prefer the smaller family vibe.

i think most of the things that you guys have mentioned play a minimal role compared to supply and demand. these companies don't sell their products in stores, produce very limited quantities, and jack the prices so most kids can't afford them. i'm not ragging on this idea because it's clearly a smart business plan (i buy into it), but i highly doubt that most of you would be so stoked in your new saga suits if every third kid on the hill had one just like it

jack the prices? Their prices are the same as most technical outerwear and occasionally they will lower the prices on stuff that didnt sell

i think their really isnt much of a design to saga i think their dope tho i also think first drop is so big on NS because it fits how park skiers want and its really like the new style i guess both really legit companies too

Take it from someone who works for a indie ski company, prices arent jacked. Truly mass production allows you to get material cheaper, but profit margins of smaller companies gear is tinier than you would think. When you deal small, you have to make everything count.

not really. a few years ago, saga had normal fitting outerwear (im not 100% positive on that). and there are other companies who make tall shit too. like salomon had the g suit jacket and the magic suit jacket. orage has the casabon jacket and xavior bertoni's jacket is going to be tall. i dont know if oakley has any tall stuff tho

The Oakley Alps jacket is tall and is made from the best material on Earth, eVent. And the shadow colorway is amazinggg....

not really....a lot of people dont like the new saga cuz it goes to your knees and looks retarted. the jacket length used to be the same length as the sleeves and i think that year in particular(ivory, shitake, beaver fur, purps) had the best lineup

yeah, i guess my wording wasn't entirely accurate. i didn't mean to say that these companies charge more than they need to in order to make a huge profit, but this shit is definitely not cheap. i understand that it costs them a lot of money to make a high quality product, but that being said a lot of kids still can't afford it (no matter how dry it keeps them), and i still think that exclusivity is a key factor in some people's decisions to buy it
